MultiChannel too complicated for most...
Well, Madhf, I wish you could give me one example of the distortion and, perhaps, a better description of it as it applies to a disc that I have. If you listen to the rear channels only, the sound is, of course, quite strange in most cases since i...

Madhf: Can you explain what you mean about noise in the rear channels of SACD mc? I have never heard such. If you are referring to music/sounds in the rear channels, that has absolutely nothing to do with the format and everything to do with the m...

Yes, at CES but it is rare. No, for THE Show.Never been to RMAF.Peter McGrath (of Wilson) and I have talked about this problem at length because we know of no place that we can recommend where the interested can satisfy their curiosity about MCH. I...

"Were I to have ever heard a demonstration of mc with discrete channels that was not the "you are in the orchester" variety, I might be more tempted by mc. " Most have the traditional perspective with the orchestra/soloists up front and ambience ...

Tbg wrote: "You suggest that 2-channel is like standing in an open doorway rather than in the theater. I find that much mc is like being in the center of the orchester and having a blanket over your head." You just have not heard anything represen...
Recommended one make systems?
There's no magic in one-brand systems unless they have a unique feature that links them. The only one I can think of that does that from source to speaker is Meridian.Kal
How do you listen, individual cut, full album?
Depends on the genre. With classical music, I generally listen to the entire piece and that can occupy the entire "album" or, even, several discs. With any other genre, I most often pick and choose only the cuts I want.Kal
Help? Why Classe CAM-350s going into protection mo
No. I did not say to do any of the connecting/disconnecting while the units were on. I didn't say to do it when they were off because I was presuming that reasonable users would know this. Why would the amps be designed to shut down if they didn't ...
Help? Why Classe CAM-350s going into protection mo
Disconnect the inputs to the amps and see if they still shut down. If not, it's the ARC (or the interconnects). If so, disconnect the Studios from the amps and see if they still shut down. If not, it's the Revels (or the speaker cable). If they sh...
Processor input
Generally, the gain through the processor input of a preamp is fixed and used as a bypass.Kal
Does ceiling height make much difference?
Aside from the subjective feelings I have about spending time in a room with a lower than normal ceiling height, the biggest issue is that it is one of the three dimensions and contributes to all the dimension-related acoustical issues. In specifi...
Need advise on RCA female dummy plugs
Frankly, any female RCAs will do for this task which, IMHO, is unnecessarily obsessive.Kal
The wall behind me.
The sound should not be bouncing off the back wall if your seat is there as the interference between the direct sound and the reflected sound will be severe in the midrange, depending on how close you are to the wall. While I do not recommend comp...
The wall behind me.
I mounted a pair of 2'x4'x2" compressed fiberglas panels on the wall behind the couch in one of my systems and it made a huge improvement. See page 2 of this link: http://stereophile.com/musicintheround/706mitr/index1.htmlKal
SACD anyone???
I will leave the rest to others but the classical repertoire is very well represented in SACD. Among the labels making excellent NEW recordings, there is Telarc, Pentatone, MDG, Harmonia Mundi, Channel Classics, Lipinski, Chesky, Deutsche Harmonia...
