Speaker with Modern Design
Dang! I almost bought the powernode. This unit has everything you need. The reviews are only positive until you stumble upon a non audiophile channel on YouTube (Mr Chibs?) stating that the KEF LS50 sound boring with the powernode. Are there any s...
The best looking speakers
@toro3 Don’t be like me and purchase a condo with a 3 year completion wait. I had 3 years to think about the interior decor, without setting foot in the condo. My brain was working 24/7 imagining what the space would look like. I even used AutoCAD...
The best looking speakers
Personally, large speaker towers turn me off. They absolutely dwarf a living room and scream "me! me! me!". I would prioritize wood veneer or real wood to add warmth to a space. So any slim tower or tiny standmount in a wood finish is a solid cho...

@ovature Men just have to take interest in their home decor. In my household, it's more like HAF (Husband Acceptance Factor). Why? Because I decorate. To be frank, I see a lot of pictures of empty listening rooms with tens of thousands of dollars...
seeking advise please on my short list for new speakers? (15k budget)
Just get the KEF LS60. Am I missing something? You'll get the bass, dynamics and loud volumes. The only (very minor) downside is the slightly clinical sound.

@resveratrol3 Are you a bot?  Anyways: - Triangle BR03 - Focal Theva - Axiom M3 - Polk R200 (white) - Dynaudio Evoke 10

@ozzy62 Yeah! That’s a sweet deal on the LaScala! Congratulations. I doubt that most people could still buy LaScala for $4k… Yeah I’m stumped.    Buying speakers based on a resale value alone seems like the smartest thing to me. Am I missing some...
Best Floorstanding Speakers Buyers Guide 2023 !
I have a (useless) geology degree and can confirm that the stone used in these Acora speakers is closer to Gabbro than Granite. Granite is typically pink-ish (potassium feldspar minerals) with tranparent bits (quartz) and some white/blackish bits ...
The Snob Appeal Premium
@mahgister (IMHO) recognizing ‘good sound’ on a superficial level is about hearing sounds you’re most familiar with. So human vocals. Maybe an instrument if you’re a musician. How does that sound coming out of the speakers compare to the ‘real thi...
The Snob Appeal Premium
@bolong You hit me right in the feels man! Yeah, I was a snobbing no doubt. Regardless, these Ruark speakers look like an unbeatable deal. Furthermore, you can save a lot of cash if you have the knowledge. SEAS drivers are good. Linkwitz knows a l...
The Snob Appeal Premium
@yoder Call me a cheapskate, but still think that you’re paying for the KEF name at $1200. I think I have a contender, something nobody wants but it oozes quality. It’s called the Ruark Templar for $600. It has SEAS drivers and a crossover inspire...

Buy Klipsch or JBL if you can. The resale value is so high. You can buy a used pair of speakers, use them for 10 years and turn a tiny profit by re-selling them. The brand image is insanely high. Can you get better performance for a fraction of th...
Has anyone heard the Cabasse Pearl or Akoya active speaker/amp/dac?
I heard the Cabasse Pearl (smaller model) in a shop for 30 seconds I wasn't impressed. The sound was a little boomy and crispy on top. And then I saw the pricetag and ran away.
What speaker could safely be ordered without hearing it first?
@m-db Can’t say I disagree. I am subscribed to my local classfields for vintage audio. It’s always a kick in the teeth when you spend thousands on speakers and you see very intriguing speakers for not much money. How about 90€ for Ruark Swordman I...
Perplexed on how single driver speakers can cover such a large Hz range
@andrei_nz I hope you could listen to single driver speakers someday. Yes, string instruments (especially guitars) sound way better on single driver speakers. Vocals sound more clear and natural too. This sealed the deal for me as I listen to a a ...
