VPI Classic 3 Upgrades or Move On to Something New
Sounds like the stars have aligned. It's always fun and eye opening to hear improvements in the system. How deep is the rabbit hole? Very. Enjoy!
Is a Ortofon Black a step down from a Pickering XSV 3000
I also have the Pickering XSV-4000, quite excellent. My daily driver at the moment is the Pioneer PC-1000.

Upgrading Technics 1200 Tonearm under $1000
New Technics MK7 is under $1000 and comes with a nice arm. Then buy some carts.
Bin dug noisy records. Does it diminish your enjoyment?
Yeah, I don’t tolerate surface noise. No need too as there’s plenty available that are quiet. Usually that is. Or just needs cleaned.
Best vintage DD turntables from the 70's and 80's?
I'll share pics as soon as my TT-101 gets back from JP. He's making it new again.

What's the market these days for NOS 70's/80's cartridges and/or tonearms?
Not much left. I bought it all from Russian time traveler.

I own 2 of the Pioneer PC-1000 carts that @chakster is so fond of. Listening to one of them now. Quickly became a favorite. Other is NOS in the vault. Beryllium!
My System's Weakest Link - What Say You...
Then @pgaulke60 all is made clear at this point. You don't have this system. If you listen 4 to 6 hrs a day, cmon.
How good is the Micro Seiki DDX-1000 Direct Drive turntable ?
Love the looks of the Seiki DDX-1000 table. It’s the same Zebra pattern that my Carl Zeiss Jena Pancolar lens has from the 70’s.
