Help identifying a ground loop hum
If you have cable TV, disconnect it and see what happens. Also, if your preamp is tubed, change it (them) and see if hum is gone. Good Luck!

new to this,need help
Hey there new audio person! Lots of reasons for hum/radio signal (poorly shielded interconnects, ground loop, poorly buffered preamp, etc.). The key words here (in your note) are: "All new". Know what this means? It means you can go to your friend...

COLD SWEATS WHEN CARTRIDGE MOUNTING
Bring it to your "friendly dealer". It would be worth $30-$50 buck to have someone else do it, No? This is assuming you could carry your turntable safely.

Best of the small speakers
I'd give the KEF Reference-II a shot. Since your listening room is small, their "coincident" tweeter/midrange is a big plus (sound comes out "pre-mixed" meaning you don't have to sit back 15 feet for the drivers to blend. Also, these speakers have...
It's not the sound I want!
Before doing anythig rash, try to borrow a P.S. Audio Powerstation (for your front end), put your CD player on three sorbothan feet, and about eight black diamond racing cones on top of your Adcom (do the same for your amp if you can go the $$$). ...
Audio Research glare

Wadia 850 vs Mark Levinson NO.39
I've used th '39 straight into a VT-100 Mk-I and loved the sound! The '39 is a bit quirky in that you must wait at least an hour if you unplug it to replug it (it will not play otherwise). Also, it didn't like my Tice micro-block PLC. Otherwise, t...
Speaker for Bryston 4B-ST and Wadia 830
I've heard the Thiel 2.3's sound just fine with this amp (i.e., I actually heard them together). They go for about $3700/pr. Happy listening!
Balanced vs. Unbalanced interconnects?
Put it this way... I had a truly wicked ground loop from my cable TV connection. It completely disappeared when I installed an Audio Research LS-9 into my system and ran balanced interconnects to my (also balanced) main amp. Some folks say, howeve...
24 bit 96khz. whats the deal?
The "Buzz" is that 24/96 DOES make a difference with regular CD's. The filters used supposedly (supposably?) are not as extreme and result in a "less harsh" sound.
