Just got a new power amp
@invalid  S300 output is supplied from single supply only.  To achieve net zero output at 50% duty cycle speaker is "flipped" between V+ and GND by bridge of 4 Mosfet transistors.  Some modules achieve it with dual +/- supply and only 2 Mosfets.  ...
Cannonball Adderly - Know What I Mean
@bigtwin  I bought it (Presto Music download with booklet $15) - thank you.  I was hesitant at first since samples sounded muddy, but it was only effect of strong compression.  Sound quality is very good and performance is fantastic.

@cleeds   Input stage can be either "balanced" or "true balanced".  "True" refers to inputs that are not referenced to GND, like in instrumentation amp or transformer. When pre output and amp input are both "true" balanced signal to shield capacit...
Just got a new power amp
@cleeds   This amplifier has only balanced input.  Circuitry between input and output is not balanced and output is not balanced.  Output is single-ended, with Mosfet bridge to switch "flip" direction of the speaker.
Just got a new power amp
@cleeds  It is amplifier with balanced input and not the "Fully Balanced Amplifier".  "Fully Balanced Amplifier" term refers to amplifier consisting of balanced input followed by two separate amplifiers - each driving one terminal of the speaker.
Just got a new power amp
@cleeds   I don't see anything in specs showing fully balanced operation.   Look at page 5, Fig 1  300AS1 datasheet  showing block diagram.  After balanced input, there is only one path (one amplifier). https://shop.icepoweraudio.com/wp-content/...
Just got a new power amp
PS Audio S300 is not fully balanced. "Bridged" output might suggest that, but it isn't a bridge of two amps but 4 Mosfet bridge to flip speaker direction between V+ and GND, since output is single voltage supplied.  Some class D modules, like Hype...

@rjduncan   I got it - thank you.  Music is great and sound is good.
OT: Espresso machines
I use ECM Mechanika Max with flow control (rotary pump), plumbed with Rancillo Rocky single dose grinder.  This grinder works like new for over two decades, but grinder is extremely important.  Uneven grind produces acidic (too coarse) and bitter ...
Help Needed - Popping sound when powering on a new setup!
@johnnotkathi   Your Benchmark DAC and your amp, both have trigger output.  Connect them with a cable (1/8" plugs) and it will provide proper delay.  Perhaps cable was included with DAC?
How much power needed to drive 91db speakers?
You get 91dB @ 1m from 2W.  It will drop by 6dB at double distance resulting in 79dB @ 4m.  Presence of the second speaker and room reflections add 3dB each resulting in 85dB.   20W of power will produce sufficient 95dB loudness (85dB+10dB).
Exceding recommended power rating
There is only few percent of peak amp's power delivered with music, because average loudness (half) delivers 1/10 of peak power, while music has gaps.   It depends on music - heavy orchestral pieces will bring higher average power, while Jazz trio...
Need Help Burning DSD64 files to DVD+R
SACD copy protection included "Pit Width Modulation".  SACD players would not play SACD without it.  It was very strict in the first generation, perhaps not required now.  Just a thought.
Toslink optical cables: Audioquest Optilink 3 vs Glass?
I use 3ft glass (280 strands) Toslink from uniqueproductsonline.com ($40)  with Benchmark DAC3 HGC.  Toslink transitions are slower than coax inducing jitter in presence of system noise, but it can be great by not injecting electrical noise and no...
How hot is too hot?
My Benchmark AHB2 with DAC3 HGC on the top doesn't get hot, but I placed the fan (on tiny feet) on the top, puling air up, anyway.   Noctua NF-A14 ULN fan is very quiet (12dBa) - non-audible in my room.  Any forced air, even smallest, is way bette...
