Record cleaner
This thread and many others that I have read indicate that distilled water is not what should be used.
New Teres Direct Drive Motor Available as Option
Dgarretson,Dougdeacon is completely right about the profile of the motor pulley being slightly bulged in the center. While my Delphi uses a belt, the convex profile of the pulley keeps the belt perfectly centered. It never touches the flanges abov...
Are there any quality Phish recordings?
I have hundreds of Phish recordings and like different ones for different reasons. I tend to like the audience recordings best because they sound more like the concerts did than anything. I find that the soundboard recordings sound very little lik...
Want to Start vinyl
Don't listen to the haters!I consistently go to record shops and come out with a pile of records. With one or two rare LPs in the mix the cost still averages out to about $10.00 per LP. That's cheaper than CD. If you go to thrift stores the averag...
Finding Pure Water for Record Cleaning - very long
I'm resurrecting this thread, too! I love these types of posts. Thanks for the effort, Justin time.We have some very intelligent audiophiles here who post actual scientific information (which is very rare in the audiophile community where voodoo s...
A Very Long Primer on Record Cleaning Fluids
I'm resurrecting this thread. Nice post, FWIW! Someone mentioned Micro concentrated cleaner. I happen to have a jug of this. Would this work well as a surfactant?
Ringing amplifier
Elizabeth,Did damping the heatsinks change anything? If you had not done it and know what you know now, would you bother damping them?
ZYX UNIverse
Stltrains,I wouldn't worry about moving on to a table that doesn't have a ring clamp. I know that some ring clamps are available, but if you can't find one to fit a different table, you can always have one machined that will fit.
Thiel 3.7
Here's a little vid on the 3.7. Harley doesn't know the difference between phase coherency and time coherency, but Jim Thiel does ;)http://www.avguide.com/features/ces07/videos/thiel.php
Walker Audio Prelude LP Cleaning Solution
Is it just me that thinks that the steaming will only make the vinyl expand, tighten up the grooves, and lock in the dirt, making it even harder to remove? I'm not bashing your steam cleaning idea, but I would at least like a scientific explanatio...
Digital Stylus Gauges
Agreed. The Zerodust and the Stylus Force Gauge are dirt cheap from Mehran and they work perfectly. If I remember correctly, both together are cheaper than the price of the Stylus Force Gauge alone from other dealers.
Is an IPOD hi-fi?
Chadnliz,That's about all I know about those things! When they come with a digital output i might buy one. I do a lot of travel, so it would be nice, but I can't bring myself to buying one. The digital output would seal the deal. It makes it a muc...
Is an IPOD hi-fi?
Time for the blind test to rear its ugly head, with uncompressed files quality cables and good DAC I am confident many would not pass the test. You can not use a DAC with an ipod. There is no digital output. When there is, I think most of us will a...
High-res Downloads of Orchestral music available
I didn't account for compression. These are probably around 6 minutes if compressed 50%.
High-res Downloads of Orchestral music available
Before you d/l these, know that each file is only about 3 minutes long.
