Speakers are the first piece of the puzzle
Due to a lifetime of revolving systems, changing rooms, and my changing tastes in sound, it was not until more recent times that the speaker first concept finally made some sense. However, I had to find "my sound" first. With that said, I feel that...
Open Floor Plan Listening Room
There are number of cabling options, so it depends on what you pick. The sub amps I use have RCA inputs, but there are other models (same brand) with XLR inputs. I also use the high level inputs into the sub amps from my line stage, so the subs ar...

Sandpat,I meant you can check out my system here on Audiogon regarding the subs. The pictures will give you an idea of my space, so what my challenge was.Kenny
Open Floor Plan Listening Room
I solved my problem  by adding open baffle subs. My speakers want closed corners, but I don't have a pair of them. So, I needed more fill-in. It was a leap of faith investment, but the addition worked out great. If you're interested, you can check...
Moving the Soundstage; Help.
I don't know anything about your setup and you may have already tried this, but if your speakers are toed-in just try turning them out slightly. Yo may not get the results you're looking for but it's free.Kenny
Is anyone going to the Rocky Mountain Audio Fest?
Sadly, I can't make it this year, and I found out that neither can my main dealer. I love to spend a good portion of my time talking through stuff with him and and listening to the music and sound that does it for me.it's a great show, and I've fo...
Support table or shelf for turntable
noromance,I love your Eico monoblocks! I just gave my daughter my Eico ST-40 integrated. However, not original so heavily modified.Anyway, I'm moving towards the decoupling approach for my gear as mentioned by geoffkait and others. I've had tremen...
The longest you have owned any gear?
I still use my Sansui TU-717 Tuner that I purchased in 1976. To me, it's one of the most beautiful tuners lit up IMO. Well, it does need a bit of internal restoration after all this time, but still sounds good anyway.Kenny
Mono recordings
For the sake of the music, I do miss some of my CDs that I ripped to files, as my system rack has been missing two shelves where my DAC and music server were once sitting. I grew weary of the digital fuss. Dropouts, system updates, and sync proble...
Mono recordings
Thanks, rockyboy,A true mono stylus is made for classic mono records, and the same applies for a stereo stylus and stereo recordings. The contact areas and how those contact areas are configured in the grooves of both formats are different. So, a ...
Mono recordings
One of the main things that I aspire to in this hobby, besides loving the music, is to attempt to reproduce it as it was recorded. IMO, that's the best we can do regardless of the format, or the care or knowledge of the engineers. It is what it is...
Power Amp Suggestions
Maybe, you don't want to repeat your service problem? I don't know where you're located, but I'd go after the contenders where you are.Otherwise, consider adding Mark Levinson to your list, as those amps were frequently paired with B & W.Kenny
Sellers increasingly overgrade records
I have experienced the same issues with discogs and others, so hit and mostly miss. I thought, I would be safe with a sealed record, but when I took it out it was so warped that it looked like a saucer. Then you have to ship them back.I gave up wi...
When System Improvements Are Marginal
+ 4 - bdp24Much of the time, the play it for awhile scenario is true. But, I did have a "jump right out at you" experience a number of times due to a mismatched piece of equipment in the chain. One example, was when I was using a 6550 based integr...
Has anyone ever heard these speakers by Volti Audio?
I spent some time listening to the Vittorias at RMAF a number of years ago. I think the room got best sound that year paired with Border Patrol amplification. I had an issue with the room however, so one of those long and narrow hotel rooms with t...
