What other hobby or hobbies do you have?
Hobby or obsession???I love to cook, ride my road bicycle (knees won't handle mountain riding any more...) Love fast cars, and apparently spending money as no matter how much I make I seem to come out even..... I collect watches and good old 35 mm...
Rush fans on the board ??
I would have a tought time with three of them...Fly by Night was the first Rush album I ever heard, and it is great, but I also love Hemispheres and the self titled Rush.If I was pushed to rate them, Fly By Night would get my first vote, for me, M...
Move to NYC Apt -- Vandersteen 3A Speaker Woes
I agree with all the prior, NYC is a great place... I grew up there, well actually in northern Jersey, but spent most of my free time there. I also agree I wouldn't sell anything until you are there. I would warn you about the subs though, I met m...
Is the EMM DAC6e or DCC2 /CDSD the best out there?
Essentialaudio,As I said, I haven't had the chance to hear the Reiymo yet, but have heard many good things about it. For now I am not in that market yet.... so it is somewhat f a mute point.
Is the EMM DAC6e or DCC2 /CDSD the best out there?
I haven't heard the Reiymo, but have A-B's the EMM vs the DCS stack and to my ears their was no comparison, the EMM was far superior. Haven't yet heard the AA Prestige, but if I had the $$ I would buy the EMM Labs without hesitation... Unfortunate...
Best sounding SACD disc?
FWIW I use Elton John Goobye Yellowbrick Road on SACD for a demo alot..... The SACD is a huge step up from the original recording.
Universal Players: Video Quality?
Dbld,My experience with the Esoteric is just the opposite. I had the DV-50, and had it upgraded, and found the picture to have a much more detailed display via DVI, almost adding a three dimensionality to the picture on the 61" Samsung DLP RPTV.Ken
Thoughts on Plasma, LCD, DLP and which way to go
I am surprised noone mentioned the new JVC D-ILA sets. three chip, native 1920x1080, and available in 56"-70". One of my partners just got the 61" for $2400. 18" deep, and really an impressive TV.
Acurus or Parasound
I would go with the Parasound as well, havine had Parasound, Acurus A250, and Aragon 4004 MK II, the Parasound house sound is more to my liking. The Acurus amps are a little harsh in the upper mids and highs, and yes the 'run down' when you turn i...
Apple Powerbook "Optical Digital Out"
Thanks for reminding me my Powerbook is now outdated.....
Any high quality music servers out there?
Snipes, Yes, it does only have one jack, but that jack is a mini tos-link and 1/9" analog out. You can buy the Monster kit they sell, or I am sure someone is making a minitoslink to regular cable. When you use it this way, it is a digital out. I d...

Horseface... you are my idol!I am still loading all my music in AIFF onto internal HD in my Power MAC, but do not currently need to run 1080i tthrougout my house... but will likely soon.I opted for the Airport Express route, and FWIW with an 802.1...
Linn Akurate spks, is Aktiv an improvement?
I have a fully active AV51 system, and ondoubtedly YES!I do know about partially going active, Linn says that is OK or are you guessing??When you switch their older speakers to active, the impedance each amp sees changes I beleive, and if this is ...
bryston warm up time
FWIW I never found Bryston to 'warm up'. Sorry, someone had to bash them....
Universal Players: Video Quality?
I have had the Esoteric DV-50 (which I kept and the upgraded to the 's' status) and the Linn Unidisc 2.1 in my system (which at the time had the Linn Kisto pre/pro and fully active AV 51 system)I love the Linn sound, or I wouldn't have all their s...
