Wavelength Cosecant USB v3 vs Benchmark USB DAC1 I haven't had the Wavelength yet, but the Benchmark DAC 1 PRE is in my home now and is a really good little unit. Very smooth and dynamic with excellent detail and air, top end is very accurate without being harsh, I haven't tried the headphone ou...
King Audio speakers? The lower model that retailed for ~$4K if I remember right was very open and smooth with good bass extension for a stat. I thought they were pretty large, but looked to be made well. Moving up their line, they speakers became way to large for a ho...
King Audio speakers? Expensive?Their base model, which sounded the best in the small hotel room sounded very good and was $4K, not bad for a solid electrostat in my mind. Their larger models were simply too big for the rooms @ CES to get an idea of.I spoke to the head...
what's your thoughts on your next system project? I am trying to figure out how to maximize my computer system now, maybe a Banchmark DAC1/Pre and small speakers and amp, with all my music on AIFF fed to it via USB, or possibly the Bel Canto S300iu same way. I just don't have enough space to set ...
esoteric p/1d/1gorb or dcs scarletti or top emm??? OK, I own an Esoteric player, but still prefer the EMM Labs gear to both Esoteric and dCs, so I would go with the CDSD se and DAC6e SE.
Sunfire Ultimate Receiver or Adcom GFR-700 Neither of them will decode the lossless audio codecs, or any of the new codecs for that matter on your Blu-ray player, nor will they switch HDMI. Consider that you are buying outdated gear and this is why they are/should be cheap. I would argue t...
Best single-malt Scotch... David,A friend of mine was in Scotland and his boss ordered a Macallan 25 on the rocks with water....The barman looked at him and shook his head and said 'Aye, I'll do it, but it pains me heart!'
Linn LK140 vs AV5105? The LK 140 is the older of the two, I have never put them side by side, but owned seven of the 5105's for a while, very good amp, very musical and smooth.
Wireless Speakers? Do they make such thing? Yes and no,I have only seen one system that was truly wireless, and it was for an iPod, you had to dock the speakers to recharge them, most 'wireless' speakers simply don't have speaker wires, they still need power.Kef makes entire systems like th...
Power Conditioners? I use the PurePower as it not only protects from surges but also power outages with it's battery back up, not cheap but it also is a power regenerator, best power conditioner I've found.
Selling a favorite component to help out family You can always replace possessions, family comes first.
Driven to Tears Any system, even the cheapest out there, could drive you to tears with the right music and mood. I hear this used a lot, and do not agree it's system dependent. If the song/music you are listening to drives you to tears, it should be able to do it...
Efficient floorstndrs. to reach above furniture Def Tech Mythos ST's, tall, efficient, sound good and have tons of bass to boot, keep your amp and buy these new and be done.
Sunfire Ultimate Receiver II Your right, I was thinking of the TG5, I don't remember if their is a way to turn off the onscreen menu, did you check the manual for such a feature?
Sunfire Ultimate Receiver II I don't think the UR II sends the onscreen menu via HDMI, if this is how you connected it to your TV, then you'll need to run a second connection to the set to display this. |
