ADCOM vs Rotel amps & preamps for sound quality I started out with Adcom gear and then went to Rotel and Parasound gear. I think that the rotels sound more refined than the Adcom stuff but I definately recommend listening yourself to see what you like. Some of the older Adcoms are going pretty ...
Universal player with HDCD You can also get the latest Oppo. It plays DVD-A, SACD and HDCD.
Adcom 5503 or two 555 IIs? I would say that if you want to stick to Adcom, go with the 5503. If you listen to a lot of two channel and decide you like the 555 II better, you can always set it up to use the 5503 for the center and rears. I don't know much about your speakers...
NHT ST4,is this a warmer sounding speaker? I don't think the new NHT's are as warm as the older Supertwo's which the ST4 replaced. NHT switched to a metal dome tweeter that makes for a brighter sound. I have compared the Superzeroes, Superones and Supertwo's to the newer SB-1s. All the spe...
Inexpensive HT Receiver - NAD vs Marantz I friend of mine bought two Marantz refurbs (I can't remember the model number, both sounded great but had a problem reproducing the correct color when using it to switch between s-video sources. After sending them both back, he bought an Integra....
Additional amplification? I have both the Parasound 1500a and the Rotel 991 which is the predecessor to the 1080. In the store I auditioned both of these amps on Monitors and liked the Rotel better but when I brought them home and put them on my NHTs, the Parsound went on ...
B&W vs Martin Logan I wouldn't use George Lucas as a guide for speaker buying, we all know he can't write/direct, so why would you think he can hear?-Kevin
Where are you? Do you know what your FM is doing? I live in Lafayette Indiana and I hate our radio stations. I swear they downloaded everything from Napster. Anyway, I sold my Mac MR71 knowing that it would never achieve it's full potential. -Kevin
Which Amp for my NHT 1.5's I run the 1500a on my mains and love them. I have NHT Supertwos. -Kevin
AV receiver for 4 ohm speakers? Integra, (the beefed up Onkyo) has a setup menu where you can select 4 or 8 ohms. I run the DTR 7.2 and love it. All the features of Onkyo with better performance. I highly recommend this receiver. I run all NHT and a friend of mine has the DTR 5....
Any ideas on Amp selector boxes? I looked into doing this a couple of months ago. the only thing I could find was made by Niles Audio but it only had spring clips. I gave up. If you find one, let me know.-Kevin
I wanna hear some "audio" jokes...and Oh man, maybe that wasn't such a good idea.
Have You Ever Put Your Golden Ears to the Test?? I guess all I can say is that I have been the test subject in a blind test for cables. I was sure I could hear a difference until I couldn't identify my expensive stuff from my inexpensive stuff. The three other audiophiles I was with couldn't tel...
Weird Bass Reponse on my Speakers. you also need to consider your test equipment, a radioshack SPL meter is by no means flat in it's response. I use one all the time while EQing a room for my PA but always end up fine tuning afterward. My advice is to use your ears and decide what ...
Suggestion for Amp to 2 ohm loads? It would help to know what you are trying to do with the amp and your budget. For a budget audiophile like myself, McIntosh and Krell, even used are way out of my price range. I do know that the good old Adcom GFA-555II is rated at 325 watts at 4 ... |
