I am getting some new tubes for my amp, and I want to do a 24-hour burn in. How?
Agree with mapman- why waste tube life- you don't put your car on rollers to bed the tyres in, you just take it easy for a while or end up in a hedge.Keep a diary of hours and perceived sound if you're that anal unless it's the istant gratificatio...

New Technics turntables
Does anyone actually have a 1500C? I'm about to take the plunge as it seems to be so much turntable for the money and I'm fed up of stuff needing TLC
What’s your obstacles on the way of listening
Read somewhere that people get obsessed with finding quiet so they move and move but still end up getting wound up by the slightest noise.Having said that anechoic chambers are strangely creepy and unsettling places- you need some background noise...

What do people think of the Technics SL1500C? I'm in the same position- have a Moth that runs slow, a Thorens TD160/ SME3009/ V15 which I've never liked and is in need of TLC and a Technics SL-B210 that also takes eons to lower then bounces like c...
Connecting a streamer via an Ethernet cable
Wi-fi is a PITA- especially when you're listening to Grumpy Dingo radio and miss the punchline as it cuts out
Are Preamplifier’s Relevant Today or just a Hinderance with Digital Playback ?
Bought a Project Pre Box S2 as a digital headphone amp but now also use it as a pre from computer USB to amp and it's surprisingly good- even automatically alters volume when phones are connected/ disconnected
I just bought a Steinway which sounds like a banjo.
I see a lot of Yamaha grands now- like their woodwind cousins a bit brighter in tone than other makes but intonation usually more accurate maybe at the expense of 'tone'. My less PC friend always says 'velly reliable and always uses Yam. We had a ...

Open Letter To REL, SVS, Hsu, etc., et al
Agree- the more basic tools the better at least to get a start and reference point, especially as like you say they're soooo cheap to make, take up hardly any space, far easier to use than faff about with computers or seek out earth-shatteringly d...
A stupid question for which there's no sensible answer.
What about Chet Baker sings?

Cheese Grommet! That’s madI think all hi-fi dudes/ dudesses should learn the sax/ clarinet- you get to realise how different room acoustics are, have the dubious pleasure of setting up PAs, blame the reed then start playing flute and realise it’s ...

Stereo systems are like Harleys
I’ve never heard of a hi-fi rally- maybe car stereo stuff though; you can meet other peeps on your motorsickle but you can't drag your monoblocks to a car park
