Best amp for B&W 802 speakers
Sim audio will give you a nice glowing smooth sound. Arcam is comming out with mono's with the FMJ line and their stuff is always properly priced and damn fine sounding, but maybe a little dry for the B&W's. Musical Fidelity worked for us in t...
Power cords
Yes, if you are new do not go and dump ANY money on cables except to get something decent which can be had for about $50. Instead focus on speakers and room acoustics as this will save you much in terms of money down the road. Spend at least as mu...
ADCOM GFP-750 question
I'd try something else. The design is pretty dated and IMO slightly veiled sounding in active mode and restricted in passive. But then again I only demoed the adcom for a week or so before moving on. My local dealer also stopped selling the Adcom ...
The ideal listening room
All the best rooms I've heard were all regular rooms and not some special shape. Instead, what they did is make sure the speakers are set-up correctly and then used some judicious room tuning with bass traps in the corners and absorbers on all the...
Subwoofer output closer or farther away from wall
Never had just one turned on as they are set up that way with the RABOS system. But the volume is only about 3 1/2 on each and my room is about 25 * 13 with cathedral ceilings. Got rid of that nasty 47 Hz hump I'll say that. The only other subs I ...
What speakers use SEAS or SEAS-sourced drivers?
Boulder looks as if they are using a type of SEAS driver. But there are lots more listed on this website:http://ldsg.snippets.org/sect-14.php3#SEASTheir plots always looked difficult to work with unless you are a pro.
Subwoofer output closer or farther away from wall
With a sub you should not really be aware of its output unless you turn it off, if you catch my drift. I doubt it is output. Those are the same subs on the Infinity Prelude and Intermezzo 4.1's. Did not the sub come with a RABOS kit? This kit will...
How to stop upgrading and aviod going bankrupt????
Muzikat,I think you missed the forest for the trees. As in it is MUSIC that keeps your hobby alive.
How to stop upgrading and aviod going bankrupt????
Matt8268 is correct. As in "The Social Contract": Lacking things (audio gear) will make you unhappy, but having them will not make you happy. Learn this and spend your money on music. Read record reviews instead of audio magazines about equipment ...
Revel F30 with Bryston 4B-ST and tube pre-amp
Go ahead and listen to there BPP-20 or 25 pre as well. I found the combo of the BP-25 and the 4Bst a rather "lively" sound. I really like the F30's when I heard them too. Good luck,
Essay bashing Primedia, Stereophile - and Audiogon
The Chipster used to work at Stereophile until the recent purges that included Mr. Scull, but included the hiring of Art Dudley and John Marks. I feel obligated to say that I owe Stereophile my high-end education. Further, I think their chosen pat...
weak link/improvement to my system: advice
Do you have everything setup properly? You know powercords away from signal carrying wire? Are your speakers level and even? Have you played around with positioning width and toe-in? What do you have the equipment on? Try the amp and pre and the b...
B&W Silver Signature 30 how are they?
You can find a review here at Stereophile: http://stereophile.com/loudspeakerreviews/272/ Mr. Atkinson seems to feel that our little 805n's (my first speaker) was an attempt by B&W to reproduce the sound of the silver signature for 1/3 the pri...
UPS, and i don't mean shipping
Well he could also have it that he runs only on batteries and switches the power supply off when listening. Not quite sure how long you might have without running into some money and a big row of batteries, and regulation as Mr. Aball has said. Th...
UPS, and i don't mean shipping
You could make your own. Those thing are only a power supply and some batteries. Like 30-40 dollars worth of parts. And then you could get really nice big batteries and power supply.Keith
