The OFFICAL Apple TV thread
Kops,As Yioryos was speculating, the ATV 2 has an optical digital output, which bypasses the internal DAC.
The OFFICAL Apple TV thread
Jastorg1 - I have not tried the USB input on the Rega DAC, and have not heard the USB on the rDAC, so no opinions from me. I don't want my computer tied to my system, hence the reason why I went with the Apple TV gen 1.The only way to find out if ...
WAV versus FLAC
Everyone hears what they hear, and it's stupid to tell people what they do and do not hear. With that being said...I've tried a bunch of different formats - WAV, FLAC, AIFF, and Apple Lossless. Couldn't hear a conistant difference between any of t...
Upgrading Wadia 170i IDoc to new 171 IPod dock
Rpg,I never owned a 170i. I demoed it a few times at 2 different dealers, trying to force myself to buy one. I'm not the only one who had issues, as there were a lot of people here and elsewhere that reported the same thing. The problem was/is the...
Upgrading Wadia 170i IDoc to new 171 IPod dock
The 170i was nothing but problems. Some click wheels didn't work, sometimes you had to undock then re-dock the iPod, etc. I really wanted to buy one, but it was just ergonomically inept. Probably the worst piece I've been exposed to in a very, ver...
Wadia 170i alternatives?? Onkyo and others??
I went with the original Apple TV instead of the Wadia iTransport. Think of it as a 160 gb iPod with an optical output. It's far easier to control, is significantly less buggy, and has a lot more functions than the iTransport. You can pick one up o...
Do you remember your first cd?
First CDs were Metallica's Black album and Led Zeppeling Remasters box set, around '91. Bought them the day after Christmas after my parents bought me a Sony Discman.
Peachtree Decco 2 setup...
It can. There's a Main In/Pre out loop on the back. Remove the jumpers, and put the preamp out from the Decco into the main in using RCAs.
Sell towers for bookshelves?
I'd agree that to get a good increase you'd have to spend a bit more. But my main advice is to get into the new space first. You never know what it'll sound like and what you need until you've got everything in there. The room is the most important...
Naim UnitiQute - who's heard one?
Samac,If you're moving up from the NAD 320BEE you mentioned in the other thread, you'll definitely hear a difference. The 320BEE is a great integrated for the money. I owned one for 2-3 years and had no complaints. But it ain't no Naim!Again, Unit...
Naim UnitiQute - who's heard one?
The Uniti and UnitiQute could be the best thought out audio products in a very, very long time. And they sound exceptional.
DAC suggestion
If your budget is $1k, the Rega DAC that just came out must be auditioned IMO. I can't say enough good things about it. As good as the Rega Apollo is, for equal money the DAC betters it in every way.I think it'll be the next must have piece once t...
Peachtree Decco 2 setup...
Can you bring your main system's integrated amp and try that in place of the Decco? If so, do that without changing the speaker positioning. If it sounds equally crap, you know it's not the Decco. If the integrated fixes the problems, it may be you...
The OFFICAL Apple TV thread
Thanks Nieuwen. I've skimmed the computer 'phile site, but haven't dug too deep. Maybe when funds recover and everything else is settled, I'm really enjoying the ATV1 and Rega DAC combo, so there's no sense of urgency to change it. There's always ...
Logitech Squeezebox vs. Sonos
Squeezebox touch's internal DAC sounds better than a Mac CDP? Gotta file that under things I've learned in 2011.Several people I know have Squeezeboxes, a few different versions. They pretty much all experience dropouts and/or severe lag.Sonos set...
