It Was 40 Years Ago Today...
I'll stand by what I said. Neither the Stones, the Who, Queen, etc., were able to connect with people emotionally, communicate a compelling message and create a sense of community in the way Springsteen was. The other band that has been able to do...
It Was 40 Years Ago Today...
Without question, the most important artist of his generation, and the greatest live rock performer of all time. A consistent and passionate advocate for working people, veterans and the needy since finding his voice in the late 70s.

Tony Bennett & Lady Gaga?...Gag Me?
Oh, I realized if it wasn't clear- Tony Bennett at 88-fine. Tony + Lady Gaga-not so good.
Tony Bennett & Lady Gaga?...Gag Me?
FYI, I am a long time fan of Tony Bennett. I have several of his older collections, the Evans duet albums, and almost all of his 1990s recordings. He can still sing with feeling and emotion, but it would be impossible for him not to decline at his...
Tony Bennett & Lady Gaga?...Gag Me?
It's sad and pathetic. He's really showing his age now, and she brings nothing to the music. Diana Krall, Jane Monheit, Tierney Sutton, etc. have nothing to worry about. It's awful.
Top 3 Most Overrated Artists contest in R&R.
I would like to know who the people who feel that the stones and springsteen don't belong in the ROCK AND ROLL hall of fame feel should be there. You are taking issue with two of the most influential live and recorded artists of all time.
Disappointing Albums of 2012
Voyageur (Kathleeen Edwards) and Wrecking Ball (Bruce Springsteen) are, without question, two of my favorite releases of the year; not to mention their accompanying tours. If you're waiting for them to repeat Failer and Born To Run, you're going t...
Pangea Power Cables on McCormack DNA
shunyata diamondback - $99.00 at music direct; made a big difference over the stock cord (much smoother, more musical) with a dna 0.5 rev b when i owned it.
From Vandersteen 2CE to Devore Gibbons 8 or Focal
The rap on Vandersteens is always too warm, never too bright; even more so with the pre signature models. It's surprising that you're having this issue with all tube equipment. The Focals, in particular, tend toward a prominent treble. You could c...
John Lennon, 29 years ago today....
"just a singer in a rock and roll band"? whether or not you are a fan of the beatles or john lennon's solo work, it's quite ignorant to be unaware of his towering contributions and iconic status not only in music, but in society throughout the wor...
How often do you get a chance to see live music

PS Audio Equipment???
I initially thought my duet reduced clarity and dynamics, but once it broke in (after 5-7 days), I found it to be very transparent, and cost effective.
Confessions
Great thread on guilty pleasures. Barry Manilow! His early songs had incredible hooks, and his live album featured his VSM (Very Strange Medley), which was a string of all the commercial jingles he had written. I also enjoyed some of my kid's twee...
