VTA and SRA?
Not trying to be dense here but the articles above from TAS and vinyl zone seem to contradict each other on SRA. The first shows SRA measured off a line running along the back edge of the stylus while the second says it is off a line running throu...
VTA and SRA?
Well, I'm a mathematician so I'm certainly not challenged by geometry but I am challenged to measure 1 or 2 degrees angle on something I can barely see.
VTA and SRA?
If the ideal VTA is 20 degrees off the horizontal, then I assume the ideal SRA is 20 degrees off the vertical, correct?
Best to connect both dac and analog to one amp
Thanks for the responses!Looks like the Roll ss32 has 1/8 inch RCA. I need 1/4 inch. I think the Niles will work.
Lifespan of NOS telefunken 12AX7?
10,000 hours is not very long if you have to leave your phono stage on 24 hours a day but only listen for one or two.I have used Telefunkens and Amperex Bugle Boys from Vintage Tube Services for many years in my LAMM LL2 pre amp (which uses both 1...
Loud pop when I use the turntable on/off button
I have a transrotor fat bob TT with the same issue. I just flip the mute switch on my LAMM preamp first. But why would a TT manufacturer not provide a capacitor that would avoid this in the first place?
Just got my Audio Desk Systeme LP cleaner...
Very exciting to see that a technology that most would dismiss as ancient (i,e. analog), in this Ipad/Ipod/Iphone world, is still potentially advancing with innovations like this. But it takes some time to establish that a new technology is really...
Is a vinyl rig only worth it for oldies?
You should read Robert Harley's excelent article on this in the July/August issue of The Absolute Sound. Like Harley, I agreee the mastering is typically much more important than the medium. I have about 2000 Jazz LP's, mostly from the 50's to 60'...
Audio Desk Record Cleaner-Anyone buy one yet
Sonofjim,I have a Loricraft so I was planning on drying with that. The Audio Desk is certainly the ideal solution but for the price. Perhaps this will come down if enough are sold.
Audio Desk Record Cleaner-Anyone buy one yet

Audio Desk Record Cleaner-Anyone buy one yet
Have you considered buying a $75 home ultrasonic dental cleaner? That's what I plan to do because i was going to get one for my teeth anyhow. I will let you know how it works on LP's.
Thread source for Loricraft RCM's;also seeking f/b
I have had a PRC3 for about 5 years, cleaned 1000's of records, and have never experienced any of these issues. I know that doesn't help you now that you have struggled with and solved those problems but nobody should have to go to these lengths t...
higher end jazz vinyl: where to turn?
Very few Ebay jazz sellers play grade anything. The biggest and best sellers jusy sell too many to do this. I would be crazy and the experienced sellers can tell from looking at a record what to grade it. But never buy from anyone who doesn't offe...
higher end jazz vinyl: where to turn?
A shop vac with modified crevice tool is exactly what I used for many years before my Loricraft. You plug up the end of the crevice tool, cut a slot on the side with a router and use a removable adhesive to attach felt on either side of the slot s...
higher end jazz vinyl: where to turn?
Salectric is correct. If you limit yourself to new LP's, an RCM will not necessarily be essential. I disagree with the comment that because people accepted uncleaned records in the past, that means they were just fine. We all grew up with noisy re...
