Recording to test right and left channels... PS Audio has a great CD/ files with an accompanying book. Check out their Octave Records section. In includes phase checks and much more. Comes as SACD/CD with or without book. Based on your question, this would be a great way to educate yourself ...
How to remove scotch tape brown residue from album covers A light use of any typical “salad oil” can loosen and even remove - I’ve used it for decades on furniture, computer parts and labels. Find an area to test it. Don’t saturate, just a light application. Most remaining stuff usually just balls up and...
Poor grammar is disappointing and decidedly distracting in formal audio reviews. “…”I rest my case.
speakers for classic receiver Grab these up. Don’t know what the deal is, but these sell new for around $2700 each, and I see some “open box” as low as $2400 each. Happy for your good fortune!92dB sensitivity is on the high side, and if you don’t drive your amp into clipping,...
What is the #1 equipment want currently on your HiFi horizon??? Maybe Focal Kanta 2 (local shop has some demos),or hold out for a deal on Kanta No.3.
If you own quality monitor speakers you want to read this new review Thanks for the link to the receive…Wait! There wasn’t one 😜😂😂
How many of you are digital only systems? I am still happy straddling the fence with feet firmly planted in both camps.I currently don’t see any good reason to take a stand one way or the other.I enjoy the flexibility of having both.
Build a wooden crate or use a cardboard box for Amplifier. The key with any shipping container is to ensure that the contents do not move around. This is a large part of the battle. However if these are going to be shipped, wood crates would be the logic and ground freight versus one of the one of the carri...
Money Well spent 😜😂😂😂😂😂😂
Bookshelf/Small Speakers Find your pleasing small speakers, but add a small powered subwoofer like a Rel T7ithis assumes you are in a smallish room, and not a head-banger.
Best dac under $2500 - comparing build quality and technologies While not specifically a DAC, the Cambridge Audio 851n is awesome, and only blemished by a shifty app. Streamer by category, is has several inputs and balanced/ RCA outputs. Preamp function is built in, but can be disabled.
Looking for an amp that punches way about its weight and I can grow with Sub $3,000, a pair of PS Audio M700 monosi evaluated the S300 and after burnin, found it too bright. When I called to setup the RMA, Joey said the M700s are much more tube-like and warmer. Can’t seem to paste the URL here.
Power conditioner types @jchiappinelliGood correction:Farads, millifarads, microfarads. A Farad is quite a large amount of energy storage capacity. For example, my current power amp has 108,000 uF, or 108 Farads. A lot of storage and smoothing for a D.C. power supply.
PS auido Direct stream Dac Cambridge Audio 851N is a nice streamer with good DACs. Hindered by a so-so app (StreamMagic) it’s not magic 😏Yeah, PS Audio is intriguing, but as the state of the art is in flux, the price is a little steep.
Does Steely Dan sound bright to you? Not that I remember. However, I picked up an original vinyl (and a CD) of Billy Cobham’s Spectrum. Sent them both back - they were ear piercing, and my old Kef Reference speakers are not bright per se. So no, Dan is above average intelligence, but... |
