WATTS/PUPPYS HELP Without a doubt, Transparent Refence XL cables. The speakers are internally wired with them and I have never heard anyhting that has the control that these cables have.
Lamm electronics and Sound Lab I disagree with Dkuipers. I would find speakers I like and build a system around them. The Sound Labs are marvelous. They sound great with the Atma-Sphere MA-1 or MA-2 OTLs as well as the Viva SETs. None of the speakers he mentioned have the same ...
Counterpoint SA 220,Comments anybody? Philefreak: Justlisten is talking about totally different equipment then I mentioned. The VT100 MKIII is far superior to anything he mentioned.
Counterpoint SA 220,Comments anybody? If you are going to spend that kind of money, try listening to an Audio Research VT100 MKII or III in your system. It is fantastic. I used to own Counterpoint equipment and I feel the ARC smokes it. To put that kind of money into it is CRAZY!
SACD vs. DVD-A and Audio DVDs There is a HUGE difference between SACD and CD. It is like listening to live music vs. a car stereo. It is easily the best I have ever heard. I personally have not heard DVD-A as of yet, but I find it hard to believe that it could be as good as SACD.
Sonic quality of Marantz SA 1 for CDs? Hey Brulee: I just thought the CD side lost a bit of depth and warmth. But there is no doubt that the SACD spanked anything else I have ever heard, including vinyl. Viva le SACD :)
buying used speakers It is just as risky as answering a classified ad in Sterophile or TAS. Although there are some preditors out there, most people on Audiogon appear to be extremely honorable. I have had many dealing and have only had one incident with a gentleman n...
Sonic quality of Marantz SA 1 for CDs? I thought as far as CD players go, it was very good. I personally like the sound of a very good separate transport and DAC combination. The Linn CD12 is the exception. I really think having the SACD is worth a bit of sacrifice on the CD side.
Difference between ARC 600 MK I / MK II Directly from Audio Research: There is good news for REFERENCE 600 owners. The same sonic improvements found in the new REF300 can be obtained in a Mark II Factory Update program for the REF600. Original REF600 units are literally taken apart and ...
WILSON WATT 5.1 Transparent Reference cables are highly recommended with any of the Wilson speakers.
OTL amps For electrostats they are exceptional.
Tube Amps for Coincident Super Eclipse Do yourself a favor and listen to the Audio Research VT100 MKII or MKIII. It should be as good as it gets.
Theil/Classe 6, and listener fatigue I disagree with joe_coherant. I find the entire Theil line to very much on the fatiguing side. Way to edgy for my tastes in the highs. I would recommend going to a tube amp and/or preamp to tone down the sizzle of the solid state gear. Good luck, ...

Beautiful Speakers I agree with the Amati Homage. They are stunning and the workmanship is wonderful. Maybe you can specify what price range. |
