Wharfedale Linton Heritage 85th Anniversary
Congrats!Never owned any but I liked them very much the few times I had the opportunity to listen to a pair of Wharfdales paired with tubes.
Well ... The Lightbulb Just Went On!
@millercarbon we aren't using cabling to fix perceived flaws.Just tweaking and tuning to let our systems perform their best just as you do.No different than trying various footers or vacuum tubes.Or four subwoofers:)I learned a lot from that threa...
Black Cat Cable's/Coppertone wires are amazing good!
Update on the Coppertones:After around 100 hours the only change I perceive is slightly more detail and a bit richer timbre across all frequencies compared to day one.I really like the touch of liquidity without losing detail.Definitely keepers.
Well ... The Lightbulb Just Went On!
I know what you mean.I like a clean open ic from pre to amp, then a sweet slightly silky sounding ic from cdp to the pre.It just sounds 'off' if they're switched around. When we moved into our present home I switched the cables accidentally after ge...
Analysis plus ova 9‘S vs. Kimber cable 8tc’s.
I'm a fan of Analysis Plus also.Kimber is more 'sterile ' sounding in direct comparison to my ears.I have a Solo Crystal ic of theirs that I really like.As soon as I dropped it in my system I was like "Sigh...yes,this is the one.It just lets the b...

DIY speakers of solid/reclaimed wood?
After googling around a bit I found out the daedalus speakers are not 100%solid wood, other materials are employed. The old wooden instruments had to have been carefully stored, maintained, and occasionally repaired. The secret to the pieces of wood us...
DIY speakers of solid/reclaimed wood?
Ok,well now I need to find out what methods are used to keep the wooden instruments and the daedalus speakers in perfect condition.I do know for a fact that very old furniture and woodwork does require regular maintainence and repair.
DIY speakers of solid/reclaimed wood?
That's what I thought.I've worked a bit with solid wood on other types of projects and have had to ensure that it has a little room to move to avoid splitting and buckling.Daedalus found a way around that somehow?
DIY speakers of solid/reclaimed wood?
Huh!Aren't those gorgeous!?I've heard of the brand but wrongly assumed they were veneered.
Ahhh--Problem solved. Adding a REL sub-bass unit...
@bstatmeister I honestly don't know, not having experienced what the *swarm* is claimed to do.I'm going to give a second sub a try next week and see what happens.I just wanted to point out some things for further research if you were interested.Wha...
Ahhh--Problem solved. Adding a REL sub-bass unit...
IMHO the sub (or even better) subs don't need to plumb the depths in order to greatly improve the quality of sound in your room.Do some reading about the *swarm* that involves four subs.Millercarbon has a really interesting thread about his experi...
Can one ever be "done" in this hobby?
mapman mirrors my feelings about hitting the target.I feel that I have, but fooling around with different tube combinations and cheap tweaks keeps things interesting.Finding new music and collecting different versions of a favorite song is fun also.
