High definition vs. tonal balance
Exactly!High definition with exaggeration is fascinating at first, but it makes me tense after a while.I enjoy a presentation that leans toward euphonic.

Big systems - Little rooms
I agree with Duke about choosing a speaker with the best acoustic behavior for the particular room. Some large speakers require a minimum amount of space to sound as they were designed to sound. No matter what is done to the room they will never sou...
Non responsive seller ?
I suspect he may have sold it on the sly and is avoiding paying for the ad by allowing it to expire with no sale.
Home Demo Faceoff: Nordost / Audioquest / Transparent
A very good write up!Your descriptions were easy to understand and really relatable. Many of us I imagine were nodding our heads in understanding when you mentioned "a cleaner sound".Congrats on finding just the right cables that allows you to rela...

So you're the one that bought the Sigmas;)Seriously though,I'll bet they sound incredible!I found HiM on YouTube, very cool!Listening with headphones there is an enormous soundstage.

Billy Joel - Kohuept and then Stones - Sticky FingersHaven't played these in years.Liberty's drumming was fantastic through the Tektons so began craving some loud blues/rock.The Stones CD sounds so much better than I remember.
What are important features in a listening chair
My chair is similar to jperry's except with a soft pillow back cushion.I reupholstered it a few years ago with a sturdy cotton fabric.Super comfy.

Some amps have problems with some speaker cables.I know ribbon cables such as Goertz are notorious for causing problems with amps unless a Zobel network is put to use.I'm no electrician and will end up explaining it backwards and wrong:)
Shocked removed spikes, used blue tack, what other non spike footer
cheeg I've used spikes on carpet in the past and didn't care for the change in sound.Seemed thinner somehow.Just personal preference. All speaker cabinets resonate some, so each of us have to try things until the resonance becomes pleasing rather t...
Help with room treatment?
You will definitely need to experiment with room treatments.Get a few sheets of the 703 insulation and move them around and even double them up.Upload some pictures to GIK acoustics and take advantage of their free consultation. You aren't obligate...
Audio racks
I use sand boxes under tubed equipment.I've tried various rollers, cones, etc. with and without the sand and prefer just the sand.My amp rests on an isoacoustic speaker stand. The sand plus a heavy amp would be a bit heavy for the rack.
Ahhh--Problem solved. Adding a REL sub-bass unit...
@bstatmeister I received my second sub yesterday and WOW!I'm more impressed than I was expecting. The soundstage widened and feels more enveloping somehow. The performers seem more anchored in place,if that makes sense.Instead of the sax player bein...
Shocked removed spikes, used blue tack, what other non spike footer
I made some footers similar to Herbie's Gliders.Threaded bolts from the hardware store with a stick- on felt pad on the head. They make it easy to level and reposition the speakers without marking up the floor.Various pads, cone, spikes will all make...
