Have You Seen - 10 Characteristics of Great Audiophile Sound
To me, the list is a subset of the groundbreaking literary work by J. Gordon Holt starting in 1962 in Stereophile and summarized in Sounds Like?  A Audio Glossary, Jul 29, 1993 and Harry Pearson starting in 1973 and summarized in How to Readthe Ab...
Standmount speaker suggestion
The best I have heard in your price range are: Vivid S12.  Clear, natural, but not fatiguing.  Fast.  Meat on bones imaging and excellent depth.   Sonus Farber Olympics Nova 1:  Relaxed but detailed.  Sweet but natural timbre.  Natural staging...
Neutral-ish Speaker Cable
@roadcykler Everything matters and cables and interconnects can matter significantly depending upon design and brand.   @jaybe I recommend you add WyWires Platinum to your list in your price range.  Moving to WyWires after auditioning a number of ...
Upgrade to sound quality of Dynaudio Heritage speakers
@jmascian and @woots +1 on the Burmester 032.   I use it paired with Vivid Giya G 3 speakers.  Sophisticated, clear, and true timbre.  Solid state speed, clarity and dynamics with tube like staging, imaging, and treble reproduction.   Used is in t...
Speakers sound too bright.
While checking internal and external wiring for correct phase is always a good check (noting internal wiring checks a difficult task that may void warranty) and out of phase wiring will potentially cancel or reduce bass output, cause potential, pe...
Oh no, say it ain't so.
I would like to believe my primary driver is a love of music, but I feel no guilt that I love hi end equipment.  Yes, I am guilty of at least three points.   As an example, I am posting here.  As another example that I have mentioned previously in...
Speakers sound too bright.
Some have suggested impedance matching as an issue.  Both your old KEFs and your new MLs have a nominal 4 ohm impedance.  The Schiit monoblocks are know  to be stable to 4 ohms and put out 350 watts into that load.   So, while impedance mismatches...
Speakers sound too bright.
Clarification:  the AMT design has a wide horizontal dispersion pattern, narrow vertical dispersion pattern. Therefore, no ceiling/floor reinforcement, but possibly side wall reinforcement.
Speakers sound too bright.
My experience with ML is they are not inherently bright.  The AMT tweeter dispersion pattern is not sensitive to floor/ceiling reinforcement and you said you experimented with toe-in.  Therefore, I would let the speakers burn in 300 hours before y...
If Bi-Wiring is an option, should I choose Bi-wiring over single banana with free jumpers
Typo. Space between 0.04”
If Bi-Wiring is an option, should I choose Bi-wiring over single banana with free jumpers
@westcoastaudiophile Exactly.  The specific product was a biwire Goertz Alphacore MI 3 Divinity, a 0.8” x 0.04” solid copper ribbon.  The space between positive and negative conductors was only 0.4”. The dielectrics were Polyester Terapthalate an...
A life sentence!!!
I am not attempting to skirt around the premise of the post. At my age, the careful selection of all of the components in my current retirement system were specifically chosen as the components for my last system.  Therefore, my response is my all...
Favorite Albums Not in the Mainstream Found on Streaming Services
@yyzsantabarbara Thank for your recommendations.  I just extensively sampled all of the albums.    Lux Prima - Karen O & Danger Mouse:  I never listened to the band or album.  I characterize the genera as melodic progressive rock with influen...
Favorite Albums Not in the Mainstream Found on Streaming Services
@sls883 Thanks.  Just finished streaming Down the Way digits on Qobuz.  Excellent choice.  Never heard them before.  I would characterize the album as a collection of a modern adaptation of late 60s acoustic psychedelic rock, similar in some ways ...
Vinyl sounds better (shots fired)
Yes, a labor of love.  Maybe it’s my age.  They say frustration tolerance shortens as  you age and returns to that like a child.  I find myself now only tolerating the vinyl ritual when I cannot find a recorded performance on my streaming service.
