analogue is and will always be a boutique market...music in any format is no longer a nessecity for most young people. it sadly is just a lifestyle choice, like dvd and videogames.

i have been a fan of electrocompaniet since the beginning. their mid-eighties models had a more musical sound and the qc was better than the current series.

What bugs you most about sound quality?
heres a shocker....99.5% of all recordings in the history of popular music are not made to sound great on high end systems. they are mastered to sound good on the widest variety of playback systems possible.

the 2200 is all the pre you'll ever need. it it dramatically better than even the c22 mac which is a classic. the 2200 would also be a perfect match for either of the mac amps mentioned. you will find they are detailed, yet remain natural. the 220...

they have gone out of business, but they are quite nice. the maggies are totally different.

harbeth hlp 3 by a nose over the spendor, with sufficent power...the decapo is nice with a smaller amp but once again its the harbeth for the real deal.
