Sound Card with External DAC Granted most CDP will sounds better than most CDRom drives, but there are probably some exceptions out there. I don't diagree with your general statement, just your absolute terms. FWIW RA pulled the CDrom because of an audible whine, but it still...
Sound Card with External DAC "Any CDP should be much better than an internal CD-ROM drive in a computer."Resolution Audio used a CD-Rom as their transport in their highly regarded opus 21, so this is not necessarily true, and could be chalked up to snobbery.
ASL WAVE 8 and MMG's I would not recommend it. Those MMGs take considerable power, and power is one thing the Waves dont have much of. I would recommend a more powerful amp, or of course more efficient speakers. But for kicks, maybe I can hook up my Waves to some SMGa...
Songs of the sea and shanties I have a fantastic suggestion:The Coral. Ther debut album (eponymous) is about 50 percent sea shanties, and is rather enjoyable. But don't take my word for it...http://pitchforkmedia.com/record-reviews/c/coral/coral.shtml
Wadia, Krell or Sony SACD I have a Sony SCD-1, and live in San Antonio. You are more than welcome to come listen to it. For comparison, you can also listen to a Resolution Audio Opus 21 my brother has. If you are interested, send me an email.Justin
SACD 2...for those who have not heard There is already a space set aside on the SACD layer for text and graphics, so it wouldn't require anything else to suffer.
SACD/DVD-A and 2-channel recordings I am fairly sure it is in the specs, (what are they calling it, scarletbook?) that all SACDs are required to have a 2 channel mix. The multichannel and hybrid are optional.I don't know of any DVD-A that include 2 channel mixes, but then again, I d...
When does SACD make sense - my theory I agree, DSD recording do need to become more common. I also don't relish buying a CD and then finding out that they are releasing it on SACD, so I have to buy it again. And RSBeck, I dont know if you know this or not, but I am your long lost broth...
Original Rega Planet vs. new Jupiter I have owned the original planet, planet 2000, and listened to the Jupiter 2000 extensively. From original planet to Juppiter 2000 is a definite, easily audible upgrade. I second the weight and detail improvements as well.I also second listening t...
CD players with volume control ????? Well common use of a CDROM is one of the reason they chose it, they dont have to worry about the drive becoming obsolete and not finding replacement parts for their CD players. And I do believe they have changed the CD drive to eliminate the whine...
Todays Raido Stations suck I cna just hear my grandparents writing the same thing Rockinroni just posted 35 years ago."Those Beatles kids just scream and yell and play that god awful distortion laden electric guitar, they sure can't play proper instruments like strings or h...
Todays Raido Stations suck A lot of kids arent exposed to good music thorugh the radio, but young kids that actually want to make music are being exposed to whatever they want to hear. The internet allows anyone to find out about any artist they want to, whether they heard t...
XM or Sirius Radio?? I bought XM radio because it was out first. I will second the thought that XM has a leg up for being succesful. They had a jump on subscribers, and have an agreement with GM for putting the hardware in some of their cars as an option. As far as sou...
Todays Raido Stations suck Rockinroni: You can find them all over the place.Get your butt out and go to a club! Ask around about who is good and they are there to be discovered. My parents don't like the music I listen to, and I doubt I will like the music my kid listen to....
Any Good SACD Player Plays CD Well Are there any plans for any other players to be used with this DAC, or will anyone ever be able to do mods to players to allow it work with this DAC? |
