looking for a warm ss amp.... Sim Audio's Moon line. I tamed my farely bright Legacy Focus with the Moon amp. Great match for these speakers. Bryston is know for a brighter top end! I tried the 7BST's in my system and found them too bright for the Focus. If your system is brig...
which amp for legacy focus I went through the same thing you're doing now. I liked the Legacy monoblocks over the Bryston 7bst's. The Bryston's had great control on the bottom, excellent bass, but they were a tad harsh on the top end. The Legacy's were a little more of what ...
Amp suggestion for Legacy Focus For Sean and Gordonghekko, Well, as for why. First I had limited ways of demoing (is that a word?) amps. I live in Idaho and you can only guess as to what's available locally. So, I had to purchase the amps I was interested in (from alot of readin...
Focus 20/20 versus Focus Gjames, I contacted Legacy when the 20/20 first came out and they said that you can't upgrade the original Focus. Who did you talk to about this? I'm very interested in the upgrade if it's possible.
Amp suggestion for Legacy Focus Well, it took a while but I've purchased the amps. Simaudio W-10's. WOW! Those Focus have come to life! Thank you everyone for the suggestions. I went with high current and damping factor. What a difference.
Running balanced. Difference between XLR vs. RCA. Guys, thanks for your input. I'm going to go ahead and try the XLR's first and see if I like the results. Those W-10's are just amazing. They really brought my speakers to life. I'm on the path to the next level... Yea!
Running balanced. Difference between XLR vs. RCA. I've purchased a pair of Simaudio W-10 mono blocks and P-5 preamp. The manufacturer suggests either interconnects, XLR or RCA, for balanced operation. From the little amount I know of balanced operation... it takes both signals (+ and -) and only ...
Cartridge recommedation needed for old table/arm I'd go with the Denon 103D or 103S. Excellent midrange and very affordable. Denon will re-build them for around $125-$130.
Anyone read the recent Stereophile article on cables? Haven't read it in depth yet. In the Nov.2001 issue written by Herve Deletraz.
What's the Least You Could Live With? A cold Pabst Blue Ribbon, a Bose Wave rad... oh I can't EVEN finish this one... hah hah hah!
Sonic Frontiers Power 2 + Infinity Kappas=? For the bottem end, Krell, Bryston 4Bst, or any other high current/high damping factor amp with adequate power. For the Full range, the Bryston 7Bst would drive the 9's.
Has anyone listened to Legacy speakers? Ehider, Just wondering, what type of wire did you change to in your speaker? If you did change wire, what sonic changes did you notice. I own a pair of their Focus and was thinking of upgrading the internal wire myself.
DENON DL-130,Still a good cartridge? Have recently received my re-built 103S from Denon and am extremely pleased. As Musicdoc has pointed out... the bass is very good and the midrange is excellent. I have this mounted in an SME series III tonearm and am having great results. I had to...
Has anyone listened to Legacy speakers? Whoops, experience.
Has anyone listened to Legacy speakers? They are a fantastic speaker. I own the Focus, and they are awesome. Vegasears had a bad experiance, but that sounds more like a sales problem than the quality of the speakers. If you can aquire a listening demo of the Focus, do it! |
