A very basic reason it it allows you to use a lower powered amp to run the mid and high frequencies, typically a tube amp often SET.

So in addition to everything that's been recommended  here don't forget that Tidal, and Spotify, have TONS of live Dead shows including most of the Road Trips and Downloads series and lots of Dicks Picks. And great sound quality on Tidal.
