I heard the Ayre integrated with the 3.7s when I was auditioning them and I definitely wouldn't recommend that combination.  It'd be fine at low volumes but lost definition when you cranked it up a little bit.  I was surprised at the difference I ...
Scoring on Used Thiels here
Thiels have always had fairly poor resale value.  It's a testament to the bad taste of an awful lot of audiophiles.  I got a used pair of 2 2s 7 or 8 years ago and they were a revelation.  For a small amount of money I got some fantastic sounding ...
Thiel Customer Service - New ownership is terrible!!! - WHAT HAPPENED TO THIS COMPANY ?
I was curious how something as ridiculous as the current Thiel ownership could have come about.  I did a few Google searches and found a few things including the below link.  I'm betting the David B. Griffin in this article is the same David B. Gr...
How can Wilson Audio speakers sound that good if they are using OEM drivers?
I'm no Wilson fan but in my opinion the exotic materials used by some companies are about talk rather than performance.  I had B&W for a long time and when I moved on I was kind of angry that the aluminum drivers of my new speakers sounded so ...

Great news.  I have no interest in ever trying to upgrade my 3.7s since any significant upgrade is likely to be way more money than I'm willing to spend.  On the other hand, I could see myself having an upgrade done to the crossovers or something ...

Wow, those radiators are definitely beat up and one looks like the surround is probably not connected at all on one side.  Not surprised nobody wants these.
Budget American made speakers?
There's actually an American Made Audio web page.  Not sure how up to date or accurate it is but there are quite a few companies.americanmadeaudio.com/product-category/speakers/
Why so few speakers with Passive Radiators?
I suspect the reason is mostly that ports are cheaper/easier.  I only know of the below three factors.passive radiator - no port noise - less sound escapes through the diaphragm than would through a portport - higher efficiency

I'm thrilled to hear that their will be service for current Thiel owners.  The idea of getting upgraded crossovers also sounds great.  It would be a real upgrade for a reasonable price.  A pair of speakers that would be significantly better than m...
Thiel is officially closed!!
I was cranking beethoven when I blew a midrange on my 3.7s.  I also may have clipped as these are a pretty difficult load.  It happened in my first couple of months with them and no problems since.  I doubled the amp and run bridged mono now.  6-8...

I believe they sold off their manufacturing equipment for the most part when they moved to TN.  Maybe they could join up with Tyler for the cabinets?  Was the 2.7/3.7 driver made in China?  I seem to remember reading that somewhere.  I wonder how ...
Thiel is officially closed!!
The way people talk you'd think Jim Thiel knew he was going to get sick and die in his mid sixties.  He probably thought he had another decade or more left to figure out how to turn the company over.@shadorne, as someone who has a very similar phi...
Thiel is officially closed!!
Considering how inept the ownership was I don't really consider this sad.  Now that Thiel is officially closed there is some chance for another entity to resurrect something that is at least in the spirit of real Thiel speakers.  Current ownership...
More Bad News AT Thiel
They're still out there and 40% off.  They might be competitive at that price.  https://shop.thielaudio.com/collections/legacy-speakers
