Wilson's Chronosonic XVX loudspeaker over 3/4 of a million US dollars
I think there's value in trying to figure out why products exist, who they're for, etc.  If something is priced high for reasons that legitimately contribute to performance it's different than if it's just because the manufacturer is trying to app...
Little two-way boxes on a stand....
I think it very much depends on what type of music you prefer.  I don't find them satisfying on any type of large scale music.  Orchestral or rock sound very weak and a sub doesn't solve the problem.  This type of music requires a large woofer tha...
ATC SCM v3 - First impressions.......
Whether or not you like the ATC sound they are objectively outstanding.  The famous dome midrange has been measured by independent parties and they've published the results.  I normally avoid getting personal but in case anyone happens across this...
Non-rear ported Speakers
Back when I had the 804s I was making measurements using a real time analyzer, measurement mic, and test tones.  They definitely interacted with the room very differently than other speakers I had in the same spot.
Non-rear ported Speakers
I had a pair of B&W N804s about 15 years ago and they excited room resonances far more than other speakers I had in the same location.
Non-rear ported Speakers
In my experience front ports interact with the room differently than rear ports.  Since all of the bass is coming out the front the in room bass response is more uneven with front ports.
Speakers Don’t Matter As Much As We Think They Do?
Speakers and how they interact with the room is the most important, having enough power is second.  If the differences between electronics are comparable to differences between speakers, you've got some very distorted electronics.  They do make a ...

Just got the other one screwed back together and they're sitting on the floor playing.  What an absolute joy.  The plastic plate on the back is very cheap and flimsy, somebody deserves to get kicked in the scro for that.  I'm gonna get some hardwa...

Just screwed my most broken ViewPoint back together and it sounds awesome. The woofer sounds great, no rubbing or distortion. I plan on using these as computer speakers so no need for high volume. I’m feeling rather proud of myself as I now have w...

I think I'm going to be able to fix these.  When the magnet broke loose it caught the voice coil in the gap which is why the woofer was dead.  I finally got the voice coil loose and it doesn't look damaged.  I realigned it and it seems to be worki...

I just took apart the ViewPoints that FedEx destroyed.  One works aside from the shattered back plate.  On the other one the back silver part of the woofer is loose and the woofer cone itself is stuck.  I tried to get it loose but no luck so far. ...

@jafant, I'm pretty sure it was shipping damage.  I think Fedex rolled the box down a mountain.

daaaaaaaang.  Whoever didn't buy the viewpoints off ebay made a good decision.  I just got them and the backplate that holds the binding posts on one is shattered and the woofer on the other is completely seized up and clearly not connected.  Some...

Well, I bought a pair of ViewPoints off ebay for $450.  I don't have a real specific use in mind yet.  They might be surrounds, might end up used as computer speakers.  Maybe I'll take them to work and use them to listen to music at work.  I'm fre...
There's a lot more bass in a 6.5" driver than most of you think
In my experience small woofers are not satisfying for long.  There's something wrong with the punch they produce.  Small woofer speakers that produce deep bass rely heavily on port output and that is slow and low resolution.  I don't think you nee...
