Are Nakamichi amps any good?
And , "Oh Yeah", The PA-7, Mkii amps are NOT a better amp than the PA-7. And do not sound as nice. Also, "Mr. Pass", "Invented" , "Stasis" tech. And- He did not, "Re-license", to Nak after he left. And that is when Nak built the PA-7, Mkii.. This ...
Are Nakamichi amps any good?
Just in case.....I have several of the PA-7 and a few PA-7ii amps. Also a PA-5. These will be available soon. The "Stasis tech", was indeed, "used for a time", "Under license", from Nelson Pass. Until he left Nakamichi.  He left, "Threshold", "Qui...
Future of cables!
Um, Basically "ALL", of the "Assumptions", That "Djones51" is currently spouting are simply incorrect. And, "yes", they indeed "Are", (assumptions) Which sound as if gained through a flawed perception that may need to be re-calibrated to base-poin...
How may a simple "Power Cable" change, improve an audio system?
Please excuse my absence from this thread. I kind of thought a bit of time to let it, "Percolate", (If you will), -would be nice. Of course this lets my own thoughts rattle around the in, Ye 'ole noggin, as well..   By the way, These "Silver Net" ...
All the brands I don't like...
I still love my vintage "M-Series", Onkyo amps with their giant dual analogue meters! But seriously, Maybe a few of you guys have a 'lil too much time on your hands? Or is it just a lack of "Anger Management Training"?? (I missed that seminar myse...
Speaker manufacturers or box manufacturers with off the shelf drivers?
The design is as important as it's execution. And too many do not ever address even the easy details. Let alone the hard one's.
How old to qualify for vintage?
But what about, "Heirloom" gear?
Novice question
So, What did you decide?
Manley Snapper Triode Switch/600 ohm switchable?
Hmm, Tung Sol does not "Sound Russian"....But I could be wrong....Am I? I thought they were Chinese. And yeah, "I", am the engineer! Much of that gear is for testing at the time. Though I "Have" had up to 23 individual amps hooked to the primaries...
Disappointing On Mcintosh......help
Mac service was always great with my gear. Slow though.... But I have learned that the servicing of just about any/all of what I would call "good gear", indeed takes patience.  And, "Patience is a virtue"....
Manley Snapper Triode Switch/600 ohm switchable?
I prefer the "Sofia", "Princess" tubes. But the "Tung Sol" are nice as well. I just learned to stay away from the Russian tubes myself....When they go bad? They can go "Really, really, bad"...…. I have the Tung Sol in now. "Very warm" and articula...
So what's the better deal (honestly)?
Your right, The speaker manufacturers "should" build their speakers with a real "Base" as they used to. But that would cost them money....Hmm.   I buy full, "live", "Slabs" of Maple, Walnut and etc. to make my speaker bases. And they do not need s...
Manley Snapper Triode Switch/600 ohm switchable?
I have both types of the "Snappers". Both sound great...…..I keep the switchable pair on "Triode". My "Mahi's" sound great as well. The Snappers are perfect for those speakers if you wish to try them.Use the XLR's if possible. If not? 3-6db loss w...
So what's the better deal (honestly)?
You guy's "Paint" speakers???? Yuck! I only build with real woods. Plus, "When needed"- carbon fiber/resin.  Epoxy finishes with 1/4" clear over the wood. Never paint! Building a set now with "Mappa Burl" and "Mahogany". Also with "Flame/curly map...
