New Tekton Pendragons On The Way
Any chance they're out of phase? Maybe the terminals on one speaker were wired backwards. Compared to the hassle of sending them back, it's worth reversing pos/neg on one speaker to see if the bass shows up.Of course you may already have done that...
Recommed a medium sized monitors that can go loud
Bryston Mini T. Known for its dynamics and bass extension in a larger but standmount speaker.
High End Speaker Prices
Not everyone from those ranks, however, is convinced. Rob Oldfield says he’s become quite used to listening to music on tinny Bluetooth speakers and via his tablet these days. “I don’t see why you’d want to spend this much money on a loudspeaker,”...

With $20,000 in your hand, what speaker would you
09-30-15: Bill_kFYI - That 2013 sale of Bob Carver Corp. to 'Emotiva' was negated after a few months, so it is now back under Bob's ownership.Glad to hear that. I've heard both the Wilson Alexandria MkII and the XLF. For less than 1/13 the price o...

09-27-15: Rodman999996.5 years on, I'll bet the OP has spent his $20K already(just a guess).Funny how this thread was revived almost 5 years to the day after the last post in 2010.Between the rave review in The Absolute Sound and a look at the tec...

09-27-15: JagdzakuI received turntable last weekendAccording to manual,I found the sub weight should be attached to the arm for the cartridge heavier than 9gDoes it change the effective tone arm mass?No it doesn't. The effective mass is the mass o...
More mainstream news on growing interest in vinyl
09-26-15: GeoffkaitThat's what the mainstream news has been saying for years. Ever since 1982, actually. What I'd like to know is where is the cassette revolution in the mainstream news?People are returning to vinyl for better sound and a more inv...
More mainstream news on growing interest in vinyl
The vinyl resurgence is good news for emerging artists. They can make $2 to $3 per LP, whereas they see one dollar for every 10,000 downloads. That means they could make as much on a 2500-album run as from 60 million downloaded singles. The hipster...
Better than the Project Carbon TT for $ 500.00
Mmakshak, I don't get your point. Is this thread so narrowly focused that the latest conclusions of a long-time turntable designer are irrelevant? My opinions pretty much match Weisfeld's and I've been enjoying a DD turntable for 8 years, but my ex...

Joefish: If you plug the 1975 prices for your rig into an inflation calculator it comes out to $8000-10,000 in 2015 dollars, especially if you add a commensurate turntable, e.g., AR, Dual, or Technics DD.Those modest and simple rigs we fondly reme...
Recommend A More Dynamic Monitor Than Harbeth C7
According to this review, the Harbeth C7c3's should be on 19-inch stands (not, e.g., 24-inch) for their tonal balance and dynamics to "pop." Also, you'll hear different ranges of dynamics depending on everything else--amplification, position, cabl...

Is the at 150mlx a bad match on the jmw9 tonearm
I knew somebody used a different frequency for its compliance calculation, but forgot that it's AT. For that you might ask a customer service rep at LpGear how the 100Hz spec translates at 10 Hz. It could be that your compliance is spot on and som...
Is the at 150mlx a bad match on the jmw9 tonearm
09-19-15: Wilson667Johnnyb53 I am not sure that I want to add a headshell weight. It sounds like you are saying adding a weight of about 13 to 18 grams.that seem like an awful lot of weight to add.No. The effective mass of the tonearm alone is 7.7...
