Need Small Bookshelf Speakers With a Big Sound I had the same issue with the LS50. Instead, I got the KefR300. It is to my ears better than the LS on the bass end and a little less bright on the high. In piano black it looks great in my living room and my wife is good with the look. I thought ...
An inexpensive amp/preamp/integrated for Zu bookshelf speakers Might want to check out Rega Brio or the new Schiit Ragnarok. Both are reasonably priced and perform well enough to still be audiophile quality. Lots written on them online too.
ATI amplifiers I have a 1502 which I like alot. I have had it for 6-7 years and it has been very reliable and a solid performer. I cycle it in and out of my rig along with a rebuilt Mac 250 and Marantz PM8500. I agree it is under-rated by audiophiles.
Cambridge Audio products unreliable/unsupported? My 740c cd had issues about 6 months out of warranty. The tray was not operating correctly going in and out. I contacted the us distributor and found there was no local repair. Directed to George Mayer in LA. as certified repair source. Cost a bit...
Suggest budget CDP to use as transport Check out the Tascam cd200. It is a pro product with a great transport which is what you want. Tascam is the professional division of Teac. It's available for a good price at Amazon and via other outlets around $225 new. Stereophilemreviewed it ab...
SAE Technician Check the SAE group on yahoo. I belong and there is an extensive list of audio techs there with long term SAE experience. There are a couple who are former employees trained by James Bongiorno who I believe designed most of their gear.

Modern day female jazz recommendations Been listening to Haley Loren out of OR. Great range of song choices, good original music, good players, big in Japan. Also, Rachael Price out of Boston. Great voice singing jazz and cabaret and blues. Not new but not well known, Maria Rita out of...
Marantz PM 8003 v Rotel or NAD sperates I think you would sacrifice sound quality. I have an 8500 and a variety of separates from McIntosh, Acurus,SAE,ATI,others. I bought the 8500 to try a modern integrated. I like it but its different than the other gear. Less warm and more sterile. B...
Ohm Walsh Micro Talls: who's actually heard 'em? Wanted to pose a question about how Ohm owners feel about the quality of upper midrange and highs they get from their Ohms? I moved to mostly late night listening and found the W2-100s3 didn't work well at low volume so I got a pair of Kef r300 mo...
Timbernation Speaker Stands I appreciate the feedback and suggestions. I know my wife will prefer the wooden stands for the aesthetics. I am more focused on the sound but can't neglect the other aspects. I am going to get them specced and ordered.
Modern integrated vs. vintage...what do I get? Update is I bought a Marantz PM8500 and Kef R300 speakers over the holidays back East. I am happier with the speakers than the amp but that is not to say the amp is bad. Initially, it sounded better than my recently upgraded McIntosh MA5100 which ...
Timbernation Speaker Stands Thanks for the feedback. I too am looking for stands for my Kef R300s. I liked the look of wood far better than black composite and the WAF is pretty key too. I see yours are on carpet. I would have to put mine on a wood floor which has a concrete...
Impact of speaker stands? Thx for all responses. I don't have a dedicated room so the stands have to look good as well as function effectively. The system is on the ground floor of my townhouse which has wood floors over a concrete pad. Anything that spikes into the floor ... |
