Could use some help with a tough match Don, if you are looking for a great single-ended preamp, I suggest that you do some research on this Shindo Monbrisson. They are a rare find on the used market.FWIW, I have no connection with the seller.Cheers,John
Where are the female Audiophiles? A woman will shop for hours to find a great price on something she did not go out looking for. A man will go directly to the store, buy exactly what he wants in a matter of minutes, regardless of price.Male brains and female brains: different. Is t...
Amp jumpers? Is there a sonic benefit? Possibly, though what about the cheap Belden hook-up cable that many manufacturers use on internal inputs and output? Or the cheaper coupling caps that are used? You could go on and on as far as you want, replacing fuses,...
How Much Have You Lost Thru' The Upgrade Process? You mean that you kept track? I lost track years ago. I know I've lost money, but I don't know how much, and I'm not sure I want to know.John
Experience with Coda Model 10 I owned a Model 10 about 15 years ago, very nice amp as I recall. Slightly rolled off up top, stong, punchy bass and warm midrange. $850 seems like a good price, though to be honest, if I were looking for an amp in this price range I'd look for a ...
Why no trading? I also have seen ads that use the words "trades considered". I have also made trades here on AudiogoN. It is very hard to do though, as finding just the 'right deal' is tough enough when just money is involved, adding more variables only makes it ...
Could use some help with a tough match Hi Don,No need for apologies, I'm just trying to figure out where you want to go here. It seems like you want a tube balanced preamp, am I wrong? Obviously your amp is a poor match for this, so you will need to either change amps, go balanced SS o...
Could use some help with a tough match I'm sorry, I must have missed the earlier post where you stated the 600 ohms balanced, not recommended with a tube preamp. So obviously you can only run SS preamps balanced. If you want a tube preamp you will need to run it unbalanced, obviously.John
Could use some help with a tough match Well Threshold is right, you will not have close to a 10X ratio. You have a 183X ratio (75000/410). What they didn't tell you is that 10X is the MINIMUM recommended ratio. The higher the better. 183 is much better than 10, so no worries.Obviously ...
Holy Moly Blu-Ray Disc Players below $300 I'd rather they improve the quality than lower the price, but that's just me I guess. Increase the computer chips memory or whatever it takes. These machines are worse than cheap computers, functionally.I think Blu-Ray is over rated. Sure the pict...
Could use some help with a tough match I agree with Undertow, 75K input impedence should not be an issue at all for any preamp that I'm aware of.
Tube integrated amps Sugarbrie, correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the DAR a hybrid integrated and not a tube integrated amp? Also, aren't you a Blue Circle dealer?Nycjdc, you may want to check out a Cary SLI-80 Signature. I have no affiliation with Cary.
Speakers with high WAF? Deliberate1, try clicking on Jb8312's 'System' link, there are photos in there of his Parsifal's. I think they look fabulous, my wife prefers my Makore finish though, which is quite fortunate, since the Makore cost less than the Big Leaf Quilted M...
VPI vacuum too much?? Tighten the plastic clamp.
Parsifals vs Mahlers - best for what I got? I have owned the VA Strauss, and currently own the Verity Parsifal's. Not that it matters that much to me, but my wife thinks the Parsifal's look better.I would say the Parsifal's are richer and more vibrant tonally. Their midrange harmonic struct... |
