What do you expect a reviewers system to be
I have no expectations for a reviewers system whatsoever, just as I have no expectations for any persons system. Whatever floats your boat.
Better sounding after 1 hour
Tube gear usually takes about an hour or so to warm up and sound it's best. Soild State can take 4-12 hours to warm up to sounding it's best, which is why many who own SS gear leave it powered up 24/7.
MC Phono Pre Gain
It's hard to say specifically, because there are so many factors that come into play. How large is your room? How sensitive are your speakers? How loud do you listen? How much gain do your amp and line stage have? All of that being said, I would pr...
MC recommendation-Monbrison/VPI Scout II
Dynavector XX-2 mk II and the Lyra Delos are the regular recommendations in that price range for VPI gear.
Upgrading amp
There's currently a couple of used Odyssey Audio Stratos amp for sale for $1000 and under that would probably work well with these speakers. They are a relatively easy load to drive, so you may even be able to drive them with a Forte Model 4 amp i...

05-05-13: TatersCsmgolf,Call me whatever you like! At least I'm not dumpster diving for gear or talking about a 6.00 reciever I just bought from the Salvation army. You are certainly correct there Spuds. You come off as more of a pompous a$$, whic...
What's up with Ridge Street Cables
LOL! Oh well, I was just curious. As I said earlier to Musicfile, I've never heard any of Robert's copper cables/cords. The only Alethias I ever owned/heard was silver, just as all of the other RSAD cables and cords I've owned.
Is built in phono preamp usually best way to go?
There is no 'best way to go' when it comes to just about anything in audio. Many choose to go built in, whether just with a phono stage in a preamp, or an integrated amp that has a preamp in an amp, because it is more simple and economical. There ...

Much of life is how you present your point of view. If you shove it down somebody's throat, they'll barf it back up in your face. Well said Johnvf!! Ye reap what ye sow!!
What's up with Ridge Street Cables
@Csmgolf, do you have the silver or the copper Alethias cords.....or both?? If both, how would you compare them?
Interconnect with great dynamics and bass slam ,
@Waxwaves, I probably went to school with your Dad. LOL!!I always thought McCormack amps were great bang for the buck amps. I've never had the opportunity to listen to one of his pimped up units though. I'll bet he can really design a mean amp whe...
What's up with Ridge Street Cables
LOL!! Sell a power cord that list for $1500 and is worth $400 used as scrap metal for like $75??? Now THAT doesn't make any sense to ME. I think it's worth just holding on to in case of emergency. I have already been through a major downsizing, wh...
What's up with Ridge Street Cables
You are welcome Pat. I would be interested in hearing them, since I have owned many of Robert's cables and cords, but I never heard any of his copper cables or cords. I even owned an Alethias! power cord once, but it was also the silver version. A...
K-S Emotion or PAD Acqueos 20th Anniv. power cord
I don't know what your price rage is, but if you are looking for more bass weight, I would recommend either a PAD Dominus w/ Ferox , and Elrod EPS-3 Signature or Statement. The Aqueous 20th Anniversary may have a touch more bass than the Emotion, ...
What's up with Ridge Street Cables
Ridge Street Audio cables were a popular small boutique brand back a few years ago. I have owned many of Robert's cables and cords myself, and yes, they are very good. However, from my understanding, even if Robert is still in business, which I am...
