Electrocompaniet EMC II CD Player
I'm running mine single ended with wonderful results. Collapsed soundstage?!? In my system the EMC-1UP has yielded the most impressive soundstage I've heard from a cdp. I would say that soundstaging is one of its greatest strengths. My only caveat...
Albertporter only needs 50
As I understand it, it is not difficult or expensive to have anything cryoed. There is a company in the mid-west I believe, that does this for $10 per pound. Hubble hospital grade outlets can be had for around $12, maybe less. Two or three can't w...
EMC1 mk2 vs Cary 306/200...
I actually may be hearing the Ayre in the next few weeks at a friend's. The Gamut, which I also auditioned, is another excellent sounding machine. I do believe the EMC-1 is a bit overpriced and I would not buy at retail. If you shop around, you sh...
EMC1 mk2 vs Cary 306/200...
If I'm not mistaken, you have not heard the EMC-1UP, which is the latest version. Perhaps you should. I have no doubt the Ayre CX-7 is a great cdp, but I'm just as certain it will not appeal to everyone. That's just the way it is.
EMC1 mk2 vs Cary 306/200...

Information on Empirical Audio IC cables
My system has been entirely wired with Empirical Audio cable for around 6 months now. In my system there is no leaness in the mids or bass at all. However, I did speak to someone else who felt Holophonic to be lean in the midrange compared to his ...
Cable Costs Relative to System
We are lucky to have a few new companies popping up that offer outstanding cables, both signal and ac, at fair prices. Yes, we all lust after Valhalla and G5, but it's possible to come close, real close, without the second mortgage type of expendi...
bat vk 60 vs rogue mono 120s
I must say that these attacks on BAT are a bit much. One buys an amp from a manufacturer that one thinks sounds great(why else would one buy it?), and then the manufacturer sees fit to upgrade. So what? That manufacturer isn't forcing you to pay f...
Aesthetix Io-Reliability Problems???
That reviewer for UA has in turn sold the Io due to what he perceives as long term reliability problems. What these long term problems are is anyone's guess. While I'm sure the Io can be bettered, it is still a phono stage to be reckoned with and ...
Aesthetix Io-Reliability Problems???
I have owned and marveled at my Aesthetix Io for two years now. It is, IMO, a supreme phono stage. One month after I received it, it did go down and was repaired and turned around by Jim White very quickly. It has performed flawlessly since with p...
