Room Tunes Still in Biz?
I received a mass email a few weeks ago from one of the partners in the company. He explained that he and Michael were going their separate ways. He seemed very emotional. There was a follow-up sent out a few hours later written by one of the rema...
Does Blockbuster Edit Their Movies?
I posted a question on the "contact us" part of their website. I received an automated reply that told me nothing about rentals. All they would say was that they movies they SELL are not edited. I can only assume that the rentals are edited.
Cablevision and HDTV
Is Cablevision a TCI company? If so, good luck. Their attitude seems to be "You'll watch what we choose to provide and you'll LIKE it."
Whither Blu-Ray and HD-DVD?
The difference between HDTV and standard definition TV is much more noticeable than the difference between CDs and DVD-A or SACD. HDTV sales are rapidly increasing and I think many people are starved for HD content. I think one or the other format...
What's the deal with the Machina Dynamica Clock?
I have some anecdotal evidence from the kid next door. He claimed that music is much more enjoyable with the Placebotron in hand. As a matter of fact, he made off with my prototype. I'm sure it was so he could enjoy his own system to the fullest.
What's the deal with the Machina Dynamica Clock?
Rcprince, anywhere in the U.S. or Canada. Interested?
What's the deal with the Machina Dynamica Clock?
I'd like to take this opportunity to offer my fellow audiophiles the revolutionary Placebotron 5000 line of audio enhanced happy meal toys. Through a proprietary process, these toys have been transformed into audio energy focusing amulets. Simply ...
PAL Format Video vs. VHS NTSC
If you only have a limited number of videos that need to be converted, I would recommend having a video transfer and duplication company do the job. Look in the yellow pages for one in your area. It would be much less expensive than buying equipme...
Monarchy DIP/Unsampler boxes effective tweak?
I've tried both the standard DIP and the DIP upsampler and prefer the standard DIP. I was using a JVC DVD player as a source and an upsampling MSB Link III as a DAC. For this set-up, they were both worthwhile tweaks but the standard DIP was better.
A trick with Scotch Whisky
You probably already know this one but you can take cheap vodka and pass it through a Brita water filter jug about 5 times to make it taste like the more expensive stuff.
Help Requested - New Room Setup
I fought a similar battle when I moved into a new house with a pre-existing home theater. I just couldn't get decent bass to save my life. Further examination revealed that my room dimensions were horrible (1x2x4). It doesn't seem like your room d...
XM radio no longer commercial free
I checked their website and pretty much any channel that I would want to listen to was listed as 100% commercial free. What channels are they inserting ads into?
XM radio no longer commercial free
I've been a Dish Network subscriber for over 7 years and I really like their music channels. I must admit that I don't listen to a lot of the rock or classical channels but I find the jazz and new age to be very good. When we moved to a house with ...
experience w/ Auralex room treatment
I used Auralex panels in a dedicated LEDE room and they were very effective in eliminating first and second reflections. I may have overused them and/or not mixed in enough diffusion however. Good recordings were spectacular in terms of realism an...
Best HDMI Cable for Video
I have only tried the short cable that came with my projector (Panasonic PT-700AE) and a 4 meter monster cable that I strung through my ceiling. I couldn't tell any difference in picture quality. I bought the monster for a little over $100 because...
