Best place to purchase a new Denafrips Pontus II
I picked up a Terminator with the updated DSD board with the notion that I'd be able to enjoy the full spectrum of the Dac's resolution...well, turns out that the Terminator's isn't compatible with the usb2.0 port in my Aurender streamer. I reache...
Great song to test bass

No Insurance with FEDEX as of 11/01
Ok, just off the phone with FedEx…apparently the genius who I was dealing with was stuck on stupid. The “declared value” policy remains the same up to $50K. The 1st $100 is covered by FedEx, anything over 100 is an additional $1.15 per $100 I apol...
No Insurance with FEDEX as of 11/01
@sns I went to FedEx to ship a piece of gear today with $1500 insurance. They told me that as of Nov 1st they no longer insure items. Each package is covered by $100 loss/damage that’s it. If I wanted the $1500 I’d have to obtain the insurance fro...

Some clarification: “What Changed In FedEx Insurance Rates In 2021 | FedEx offers insurance cover for parcels that are worth $100. If the value of the parcel is worth more than $100, you will have to declare its value and pay for additional covera...

To make matters worse Fedex is hiking rates 5.9% Jan 3, 2022. So no insurance and a rate hike. Unfortunately the alternatives are dismal and less reliable. UPS is a disaster as it is but still better than USPS.
DAC That Punches Above Its Price Point
@in_shore Thanks! Do you still have the Terminator in your rig? It would be a bit of a stretch for me over the Venus but I was thinking of holding out till I can make it happen.
A budget power cord has speed and transparent but not overly bright.
Virtual Dynamics Power 3…Incredible what a PC for $100/$150 bucks can do. My entire rig is equipped with VD cords. You’ll need to hunt around to find them but they are worth it.
DAC That Punches Above Its Price Point
I’m hot for a Denafrips Venus II however my concern is service should it ever need repair. The thought of shipping it across the globe doesn’t sit well with me.
Cost Effective System Improvement?
Component wise, on your front end you have a great DAC, so I’d either upgrade the Bluesound with a good LPS or ditch it all together. I recently moved from a Node2i to a Aurender and it was quite a noticeable improvement.
Magnepan service shut down
(Shakes head in disbelief while scratching Magnepan off his HiFi bucket list)
Recommended streamers/servers?
I went from a tweaked Node2i to an Aurender N100SC. Tremendous upgrade imo.
How is the Pass Labs X150.5 at low volume?
@ghdprentice Superlative set up man! 🤯I appreciate all  the responses, to be clear this is basically just a matter of opportunity. I really love the D400MKII. If I had the room, I’d grab the Pass and keep the ARC. I highly doubt the Pass would dis...
Still happily using vintage gear?
My oldest piece of gear is a fabulous Audio Research D400MKII from 1993!!
Das Mikrofon vol. II….more fun than swapping cables!
@fuzztone Pretty wild how a just a mic can make or break a recording. This just reenforces why I shouldn’t get overly critical about the nuances of my gear. There’s just too many variables that you can’t control.Â
