newbie question- omega/meadowlark/traingle/reynaud The JM Reynaud Twins are excellent speakers which you should be able to find used in your price range.
Best amp with Dynaudio I've only used two amps with my Dynaudio's. The McCormick DNA125 and a McIntosh MC162. I preferred the McIntosh and still use it. Sounds great to my ears. I have always heard that Plinius and Sim Audio are excellent matches.
Dynaudio 1.3SE vs. JM Reynaud Trente Thanks for the responses. I'm going to keep the Dynaudios for now and try and work with room treatments. I really don't like using the foam plugs for the ports. Does anyone have any suggestions on some affordable room treatments(bass traps, etc)?
Dynaudio 1.3SE vs. JM Reynaud Trente The reason I was thinking about the Trente is because I believe they are front ported. Shouldn't a front ported speaker help out with this problem?
Project Phono Box vs. Creek OBH-8 Sugarbie, thanks for the response. I'm looking for something that I could use with good results even if I decide to modestly upgrade my turntable & cartridge. That's why I would be willing to spend $150. By the way, I have heard the Project Ph...
Power Cords Snake Oil ?? Jetmek, I just bought a power cord from you and you told me you had two others of the same brand and you loved them. Have you had a change of heart?
Dynaudio 72 vs. Dynaudio 1.3 mkii Thanks for your input. I'll probably stay away from the rear ports until I have a situation where I can get a little farther out from the wall.
McIntosh MC162/Replacing bulbs on front panel Thanks. I had planned on replacing all of the lamps. I'm not real steady with the soldering iron so I may just take it in to the shop. Thanks for the info.
Anyone heard the Audible Illusions L2? Cspence, thanks for the response. I didn't realize they just started shipping. I currently own a Rogue 99 Magnum. However, the remote is a bit frustrating. It's hard to find a precise listening level at low volumes. How do you like the remote? Can...
Speaker tweak Thanks for the advice folks. Theo, I'm using Mapleshades Heavyhats on my amp, preamp and cd player and it does help. I'll give the sand bags a try. You know, these tweaks are what makes people think we're all nuts. But damn, once you hear those su...
Sibilance how do I get rid of it? I have a pair of the Dynaudio 70's. I found using a pair of the Ah! LS Noise Killers on the speaker terminals really helped to smooth out the top end. They're only $50/pr. from Upscale Audio and they are easy to use. I don't know if this will help...
Tyler Ref Monitors vs. Dynaudio 1.3 MK11 John, I used to have a pair of the Audience 50's so I know about the plugs. I didn't like using the plugs on the 50's because I felt the sound became too dry. The 50's sounded okay only a foot from the wall. I'm just curious if the 1.3's or the 1....
Tyler Ref Monitors vs. Dynaudio 1.3 MK11 Thanks for all the advice. As far as giving speakers some room to breathe; I will only be able to position the speakers about a foot or so from the back wall. Will this be enough for the Dynaudio's or any other rear ported speaker?
Tyler Ref Monitors vs. Dynaudio 1.3 MK11 I like the 72's just fine. They do however, get quite loud in my room without too much effort. I've been told I might be better off going with a higher quality monitor. I owned the Audience 50's before I got the 72's. I loved the 50's but needed a...
Pioneer TX 9500 tuner/ Comments? Thanks for the feedback folks. I'm going to go ahead and get it. It's only $80 and the shop is giving me a 90 daywarranty on it. It sounds like it will serve my purposes.I live in San Francisco and it's mainly just a few Bay Area stations I'd like... |
