Anat Cohen Live -- WOW I second the praise for Anat. Based on a good review (in Stereomojo, I think), I bought her 2008 CD, "Notes from the Village". I heartily recommend it.Jim

Best bourbon? Woodford Reserve. It's smoother, has a bit more caramel, and is "deeper" than Maker's Mark. Knob Creek is my second choice.
Mozart Piano Concertos Uchida's set is also outstanding. She plays Mozart, both concertos and sonatas, extremely well. You can't go wrong with any of the suggestions here, but if you're taking your time and auditioning before you buy, be sure to listen to hers. Have fun.

Proac D Two & LFD LE III I can't tell from your post whether you think the Proac D is a "replacement" for Harbeth because you like the sound of the Proac as much as you like the sound of Harbeth or whether you think that it has the same sort of sound as the Harbeth. My ex...

Jazz enthusiasts - A Joe Henderson find ..... Thanks for the tip, Newbee. Like you and Knownothing, I've always enjoyed Lush Life. After reading this thread yesterday, I listened to it and So Near So Far last night. If you're not familiar with the latter, you might look for it. It's a tribute...
New to Classical Music - Album to try first?? Are Harbeth S HL5's As Good As Reviewers Claim? I think our colleague, RGS92, nailed it: http://forum.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/frr.pl?rspkr&1227137239&read&3&4&I think what he wrote about the SHL5s is accurate and can be extended to Harbeth speakers generally.
Favorite Female vocals that give you goose bumps kd lang singing Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah". I agree with Shadorne about Joan Baez singing Diamonds and Rust and would also suggest some of her earlier work on Bob Dylan songs. Then, to go in another direction entirely, there are those songs that ...
What to fill Skylan stands with for Harbeth SHL5s I believe that Noel at Skylan recommends clay kitty litter. Try calling him and asking; he's a great guy and easy to deal with.
Jazz Piano Trio / Spanish Guitar Many, many good suggestions above. I'd add the following trios/quartets:Bill Evans: Sunday at the Village Vanguard (a classic)Marcus Roberts: The Truth is Spoken Here (his piano solo cd "Alone with Three Giants" is a special favorite)Brad Mehldau:...
Time to change. But to what? Based on your description of what you're aiming for, you might want to audition some Harbeths. |
