Passive sub for Magnepan 3.6r? I run my 3.6's with a pair of powered Vandersteen 2WQ subwoofers with the Balanced high pass Model 5 crossovers.Read Dick Hardesty's treatise on why the 2WQ is a seamless solution. It is a cogent and well-written article.http://www.vandersteen.com...
Speakers for Rock Music JBL L100 or 4311. Same speaker, L100 was consumer version of 4311 studio monitor that was used to mix many of the rock hits of the 60's and 70's. Dead nuts reliable because the woofers were constructed with paper surrounds which don't deteriorate ...
Speakers for bad rock recordings JBL L100 or 4311,4312. Many rock recordings in the sixties and seventies were mastered on these. You also don't need much power to drive these.
Classe DR-5 Pre-Amp I had one for a time. Mine sounded very good with a Sumiko Blue Point Special. It was mounted on a Thorens TD-316 turntable which fed the MM input of the DR-5 and the amplifier was a Classe'25 driving a pair of Maggie 1.6's.
The Who: DVDs, Video... The Kids are Alright is indispensible for any Who fan and would my first choice. Theatrically released shortly after Moonie's death, it leaves off any Quadrophenia material but the DVD is in widescreen and the picture quality and sound quality(rem...
What speakers can make a convert of Maggie lovers? The only speaker that would get out of my Maggie 3.6/Vandersteen 2WQ combination driven by the 500wpc @4 ohm Classe'25, would be a big Apogee such as the Diva. In my current room which is fairly spacious(4500 plus cubic ft)but quite live, planar s...
Former Spica owners ... what did you trade up to ? I went from a pair of TC-50's plus a single Spica Subwoofer to the Apogee Centaurus Minor. From there the Apogee Caliper(still with a single Spica sub), Magnepan 1.6QR with a single Vandersteen 2Wq, and finally to the Magnepan 3.6R with a stereo p...
Room size I should add that if the room is not enclosed, you need to add in all of the open cavaties as well. The basic cubic volume of your room is less than 2400 cubic ft, so it rates as a small room. The additional openings suck up some power, but I doub...
Room size In THX parlance, a large room is defined as anything larger than 4500 cubic ft. I think the parameter for small is anything smaller than 3500 cubic ft.
Conservative Politics & Rock Music Tvad,To quote the article in NA on "Won't Get Fooled Again": "The conservative movement is full of disillusioned revolutionaries; this could be their theme song, an oath that swears off naive idealism once and for all." and "the best number by a b...
Conservative Politics & Rock Music I agree that the National Review just "doesn't get it." "Won't Get Fooled Again" is the anthem of the most anarchistic rock and roll group that ever lived! It is NOT a conservative anthem. Pete punctuated many a performance by his auto destruction...
bat vk-51se vs. audio research ref2mkii Your Pass X350 Input has an input Impedance of 22 kohm balanced, 11 kohm unbalanced which may not be optimal for all tube preamps. ARC recommends 20K ohms minimum load for the REF II. ARC power amps usually have an input impedance of 100k or more....
I think it is time to retire Pete Townshend said it best in 1965. "Hope I die before I get old!"But...He didn't so he'll just"Pick up my guitar and play just like yesterday."So just lay off the old geezers. Buy and enjoy what you want and let them worry about their legacy.The...

Vandersteen 2wq with two way monitors Dizzyizzid. As far as avoiding interaction with the HP filter, I don't know the answer. You could go to the Vandersteen website and ask the man himself. As for using the HP filter supplied with the 2WQ, yes you would use it. |
