Need suggestions for balanced equipment to Combat noise/hum @gordon I believe the issue is the synergy between the Innamorata and LS100. They are both fine operating with other devices, but together not so good. Upscale Audio has a page discussing tube preamp hiss and says it is often a combination of l...
Need suggestions for balanced equipment to Combat noise/hum Yes, I have to be careful. I'm thinking RP7 or maybe used BAT vk23se? Bryston17.3?
Need suggestions for balanced equipment to Combat noise/hum Every thing is on same circuit
Need suggestions for balanced equipment to Combat noise/hum @Tvad, this is very interesting, however, the output of my Modwright is not truly balanced. They provide XLR connectors for convenience only. They jumper 2 wires internal to the preamp. Will this still work?
Need suggestions for balanced equipment to Combat noise/hum @Audiotroy, cheater plug did not work. I ended up putting all the equipment in the rack and using shorter RCA, Apparently there were 3 issues occurring simultaneously. 60 hz hum, micro-phonic tube and hiss. I fixed 2 of the 3. I will use headphone...
Need advice replacing my preamp OK, so today I did play with the RCA and notice it is micro phonic. I guess I have to move to a balanced set up? or place my equipment rack on the wall between the speakers thereby shortening the cable to 1.5 meter.
Need advice replacing my preamp OK so I changed out the cables, no difference. I found a lighting dimmer that adds some buzz but still need to get rid of more noise.
Need advice replacing my preamp @atmasphere I agree, I am trying to rule out the cables first. BTW I should have clarified that I would like to go Solid State and fully balanced over time. The idea is as I am getting older I dont want to futz with tubes and noise issues so I wa...
Need advice replacing my preamp @Atmasphere thank you for the explanation. I agree with you. Lets see how the cables work. BTW if I connect the output of my DAC it is quiet. I get the noise with out even turning the preamp on!
Need advice replacing my preamp @Joey54 I am using Transparent Audio cables 20ft long. I just purchased some XLR cables (mogami wire and nuetrik connectors) I am told by a Pro Audio company that XLR by their nature of construction are better at noise rejection than single ended ...
Need advice replacing my preamp @verdantaudio Im all ears on suggestions please share. and Big_Greg true just because there are XLR connectors on the back panel you have to ask if it is truly balanced. @Tweak1 I would have to change out the amp too but one at a time. Right now j...
Prima Luna Pre vs Modwright LS100 thanks. It sounds like the preamp I have is reasonably good preamp that I dont need to run out and change. I will keep my eyes and ears open for something used (4K range) that may give it a run for the money.
Prima Luna Pre vs Modwright LS100 ok so not necessarily better/worse, just different.
Jupiter Caps in tube preamp application So true, with software today it is easy. So I don't make my own recordings so therefore I am a little behind in that area. I am an older audio guy from way back and I am tired of chasing. I got away from the hobby for 15 years and when I got back ...
Jupiter Caps in tube preamp application @rauliruegas Will do. BTW I have been thinking about your previous posts regarding accuracy. what is "accuracy" anyway? How can you be sure that once component is more accurate over another. I know I am not qualified to make that judgement. I DO k... |
