Antique Sound Labs Headphone Amp Looks like the MGHead, XCans2 and the Antique Sound Labs will get auditioned. Thanks for the feedback.
Audioquest Diamond Sound I concur that this is a rather "live" IC, at least with my system. Lots of detail. My experience is only with the original Diamond. I'm running it from my DAC (Resolution Quantum) to my pre-amp (Mod3a). I much prefer Emerald and Lapis (original co...
Help w/ amp for ML Requests Before you get rid of your VTL's try tubes on the stators and a solid state amp on the woofers. I have run CLS's in a full range mode with a variety of tube and ss amps. The power requirements of ML's are not as demanding as often described. The i...
Need advice to select a Pre Amp Consider the Audible Illusions Modulus 3a. I recently upgraded from a Mod3 to a 3a -- the newer version is *substantially* better in my system (the Mod3 wasno slouch either). BTW, I am also using AQ IC's and speaker cable (subs only) -- both the 3...
Smear campaign? Concur with the opinions regarding posters slamming and "hiding out". The Audiogon equivalent of hit and run. In retrospect, I seriously doubt that most of these ass-wipes have any experience with the equipment they disparage. Too bad, as some peo...
Beating a Dead Horse. SUBS Hi Pete. Which ML's do you have? If they CLS's, not hybrids, look for a pair of Kinergetics SW800 subs towers. Even they guys at ML will tell you that this is the sub system that best integrates with the CLS. It should, as it (including the crosso...
wood tonic hurts ? I'm using a "mini-Statement" ("Comment"?) system. ML CLS 1's with Kinergetics SW800 sub towers. Yeah, I love these speakers so much that I get a little kinky with them late at night. Hence... the non-toxic oil ;-)
wood tonic hurts ? I've been using a food grade mineral oil -- the same stuff I use on maple block surfaces -- very effective, safe and non-toxic when lips are pressed against the speakers.
advice for an old newbie I've seen the package you describe for a bit less than $1,000 while researching tables, as I am in a similar situation (sold my SOTA three years ago and the LP's are stashed away). My impression is that the Basis 1400 ($400 more than the Perspecti...
Carl hears through Diamond Carl, your post has that Wild Turkey and raw ether flavor ;-) I heartily agree with your assessment of AQ Diamond. I would not bite when this stuff was $1,000/meter, but am happy, and amazed, at today's prices on the used market. Truly one of the ...
Are Monoblock s worth it? Any experiences regarding monoblocks on sub woofers (Kinergetics SW800 towers)? My main amp is dual mono (tubes), the only shared component is the negative feedback control. The manufacturer has actually sawed these puppies in half to prove that t...
Mesa Baron and Mani-II any thoughts? The Baron was effortless in hanlding the load/impedance swings of my ML CLS's (never needed full pentode, usually two-thirds triode). Even compared to the Baron with stock tubes, the Bryston is dry sounding to me in comparison, although I am consi...
Reasonably priced 2K Phono Preamp? I suggest an Audible Illusions Modulus 3, then add NOS tubes(Seimens are working great for me). Excellent phono stage. Very good all around performance. Tough to beat for the money -- well under your budget even with premium NOS tubes.
Best Component Ever, for the money NAD 3020 integrated amp.
Best Silver ICs under 300? I was able to pick up used AQ Diamond at very attractive prices and highly recommend it. I would never bite when this stuff was $1,000 per meter but am happy to play around with it now.I've found, however, that the combination I like best is the D... |
