Modwright Oppo 95 and Computer Audio Dan Wright responded to the USB input question by saying: "This can only be connected via USB and a standalone drive, but not a PC." It's surprising to me, because when the 95 came out I got the impression many people thought it was a great thing.
New Computer: What Should I Get for Audio? Is there a sonic advantage to ripping one's CDs? Or is it a matter of convenience?
New Computer: What Should I Get for Audio? Thanks Steve. That's very helpful information.
New Computer: What Should I Get for Audio? Wow thank you for so many responses. I have to admit, though, that I am overwhelmed already. For example, I dont have a clue what some of the acronyms and abbreviations mean. I am having difficulty even forming questions, but Ill start with the ...
New Computer: What Should I Get for Audio? p.s. Timlub - I too have a very heavily modded tube-output CD player (Exemplar/Denon). I'm puzzled by your comment that "my server/DAC is every bit as good". Puzzled because I thought the point of computer down-loaded hi-rez music was to get much ...
New Computer: What Should I Get for Audio? Thank you, Roscoeiii, Audioengr, and Timlub,I think I am inclined toward a Windows laptop at this point, but I am considering a Mac laptop. I haven't researched Macs yet, but I have a friend who loves her Mac Pro. This computer is going to be used...
Analytical or Musical Which way to go? All I can add is that, IMHO, there are clearly several speakers that measure well and sound very much like music. And, as an audiophile for some 40 years, I think there is no longer a debate "raging on".
Oppo 95: Burn-in...and Fan Thanks Jwm! It sounded like you were saying the Oppo sounds much better using the balanced outputs.
Oppo 95: Burn-in...and Fan Thank you, Jwm. I don't have a balanced preamp. Could you tell me what you hear via the unbalanced outputs? Thanks!
Oppo 95: Burn-in...and Fan Jwm - Can you tell us specifically what differences you have heard between the stock and Modwright-modded 95? I ask because I have read several places that the modded version is significantly better; and, based on experience with my modified Denon...
Crisp sounding tubes for Modwright 5400ES I'm very sorry for "intervening" with this question, but I am curious since I have a stock Oppo 95:Where does the stock 95 fall on the warm/full to open/detailed spectrum of the modded Oppo and Sony? Or maybe it's "outside" that spectrum?Thank you
EVS modded Oppo 95 Thanks Bob. That's actually what impresses me about the two guys I mentioned, but I'm not discounting what Ric does.
EVS modded Oppo 95 Rjbwb - I don't doubt what you are hearing with your modded Oppo 95. I am puzzled with why you say Ric does a lot more than other modders, though. Are you aware of what Dan Wright or John Tucker are doing?
Extremely well recorded jazz double bass? cymbals? There is actually a recording called "Wood". I am blocking on the name of the bass player at the moment, though. I would (no pun intended) check that out. You could also try some of Dave Holland's recordings...i.e., his solo discs or those with ve...
Bruce Springsteen, We are alive... This record (Wrecking Ball) has taken a very long time to grow on me - but it has. I don't love it, but I do like it quite a bit now. I'm a big, long-time fan, so I give Bruce's records a little more time to "sink in". I guess my summary at the mo... |
