Heard the New Jeff Rowland 302 Power Amp? Ral - I agree with you. The 302 may not appeal to all former Rowland fans, i.e. the ones who liked the generally warm character. I've come to believe that the 302 is not lean, by the way. It seems to me to be extremely neutral (as best I can tell,...
Heard the New Jeff Rowland 302 Power Amp? Ral - My experience is that the Pass amps do not all sound the same (which is true of other manufacturers as well, of course). I believe the X600 to be leaner than the X-150 or X350. Also, please understand when I talk about leaner and warmer, I'm...
Heard the New Jeff Rowland 302 Power Amp? Yes, it's the best amp - by far - that I've ever heard. You say you're looking for something warmer sounding, but don't specify what you would be comparing it too. I see that you have a Pass X-250 and don't know that amp. I CAN tell you that the 3...
Rowland 201 mono's, has anyone heard them? Has anyone heard if there will be a stereo version? I looked at the website, but found only the 201 monos. By the way, I own the 302, after having owned the Model 10. The former is a major improvement!
Jeff Rowland - No Exposure? Kevziek - The 302 is a huge improvement over the Model 10, in exactly the areas/ways you have highlighted - and in many other ways. I owned a Model 10 for a few years, and I have now had the 302 in my system for about 5 months.
Anyone listen to the Dodson 218 DAC? Verybigamp: I don't appreciate being told my taste is moronic.
Anyone listen to the Dodson 218 DAC? Hi - I'm sorry I can't help you on this. I do find it surprising that no one visiting on-line audio sites seems to have heard the 218. I also find it strange that definitive comparisons of the 217II-D, before and after the latest upgrade, are pret...
Besides Spectral, what else do I try........ I use a CTC Blowtorch preamp and one of the NEW Rowland 300 series amps. I've stressed "new" because I've owned Rowland in the past. The 302 I own is in another league from what came before. This combination is superb. Good luck in your search.
Other "silver" spk cables..... I would highly recommend an audition of Silversmith speaker cables. Unfortunately the manufacturer may still be away on active military duty.
Problems with my Berning ZH270 I'm in agreement with others with regard to the Nordost cables. Those I've heard sound lean. The balance can then sound bright in a system.
Dodson DA-217 vs. Theta Pro Basic IIIa?? Mikesinger - I don't mean to be critical, but without specifics about which iteration of the Dodson you were listening to, such comparisons are pretty meaningless, at least to readers such as myself. I imagine there is some truth in what you say y...
Best small speaker I'd consider the Merlin TSM-M. I have no idea if it's "the best". I sure do think it's great, however.
Jeff Rowland model 302... Chris & others - I own a 302 and used to own a model 10. The 302 is *much* better. The difference in power is obvious, but the even more significant improvements include better low level resolution, deeper, more authoritative bass, and, overal...
Has anyone compared the HMS IL Primo Digital cable Yes. I compared it to the Valhalla, the Siltech G5(I forget the name - Golden Ridge, I think), top of the line Nirvana and XLO, the Silversmith, the Ensemble, and the Acoustic Zen. I definitely preferred the HMS.
The Fastest most musical amp I couldn't agree more with Mikelavigne regarding "fast", nuance, texture, microdynamics, etc. My personal combination - that I love because it meets Mike's stated criteria for me - is the CTC Blowtorch and Jeff Rowland 302. The latter, by the way,... |
