Songs of debauchery and excess
Because it's really a single unit, a dark cautionary tale / Monkey's Paw reflection on the perils of debauchery and excess... Antichrist Superstar by Marilyn Manson. Most of their catalogue is mediocre or less, but this work is an intense journey...
If there was only ONE album/cd/release you can listen to, over and over.............
Some nice choices made... As stated, very difficult to decide, and many  choices came to mind. These were chosen not only because they are loved, but they also are associated to experiences in my life that were extraordinary. Rather than outright...
Need Speakers at least 4 feet high
@tablejockey legend has it that on certain full moon nights, if you listen really carefully you'll hear a faint, plaintive voice saying ' the chair... the chair... that damnable chair...'
Best progressive rock album side
Many would not consider it progressive rock but Marilyn Manson's Antichrist Superstar is a brilliant story through song about the dangers of fame (told through much metaphor and allegory). It came out as a CD and thus was represented as a complete...
Alright, it's too quiet around here. Let's have some fun.
Roundabout, by Yes. It's a song that always makes me feel hopeful. Won'dring aloud, by Jethro Tull. A short beautiful song that always makes me feel lucky to be loved by, and being with my girlfriend, and the years we've weathered so far and the ...
Let’s share the music that gives us the chills every time.
Any Cocteau Twins from Blue Bell Knoll onward. First several Joni Mitchell works Any quality recordings of Bach’s Brandenburg Concertos. First three by Mum, esp. Finally we are no one. All three Rune trilogy by Wardruna. ...and many more.
Any Decemberists fans out there?
I would say they are definitely audiophile quality. Everything they have released is beautifully recorded. And live? Sonically stunning. I will second the assertion that they are and have been one the most original bands of the last 20 years. Eve...
UGH...The tired, "BEST" Rock guitarist thread
@tablejockey I didn't want to drag your thread off topic into such things. I was prompted to respond as ignoring hate as merely opinion is a dangerous thing. It can be an opinion that someone thinks taxes should be spent a certain way, that some m...
UGH...The tired, "BEST" Rock guitarist thread
Ted is as relevant as any of us. Why the anger? Don’t like his point of view on things? He is both relevant and free to have his views.   @grannyring Anger?  If you find calling an accomplished black man a subhuman mongrel and making threats to...
Do you spend more time analyzing the sound of your system, worrying it could be better?
For me, it begins and ends with music. I've always enjoyed quality sound because I love the beautiful, rich tones of instruments, voices, and that intangible magic. Some people just like to hear their favorite songs, some people like to savor it t...
Forgotten heavy bands from late 60's to early 70's
Attila. The first band of some guy named Billy Joel. You can thank me later.
Let me end the Premp/Amplifier sound debate ...
All amps of a certain quality level DO sound the same. They all sound great 😀
Is this Klipsch upgrade worth it?
Fwiw, I demoed the Forte III when that was the current model and was surprised at being underwhelmed. As a Klipsch fan, I had original Heresy and KG 4.2 for years, I then demoed the Heresy IV and thought it superior to the Forte. I was looking for...
Klipsch cornwall speakers
Cornwall IV's here.. Had them for almost two years now and still love them. The only flaw they have is they are brutally revealing with subpar recordings. They should sing beautifully with your equipment. If you can demo them, please do!
Recommended streamers/servers?
I'll join the Bluesound Node2i dogpile. I demoed a few streamers, dacs, and combos up to $3k (yes, not much in audiophile land but I'm not rich either) and I personally feel the Bluesound is the best deal going without spending more. It's simply a...
