SACD.  RIP a stellar format that never had a chance.
Math + Logic + Science = something completely mad...
An amp on top of speakers is not a good place, especially a tube amp, they are better off on the floor (vibration control). The skin affect at audio frequency's is not worth worrying about especially with just a two foot run but a quality solid ...
6.5 vs 8 vs 10 woofer
"hate to repeat this 1m x's, but I'll say it one very last time, db sensitivity is 100% the most important tech value you ned to look at 1st in any speaker's performance."While I agree with this sentiment 100%, there is always the exception to the...
6.5 vs 8 vs 10 woofer
"I use 12K Behringers and a 2496."Explains a lot.  Leaving it at that.
Dream Speakers = landed. Now I need to feed them!
"Detail and imaging on the Bluetooth signals and the optical from the TV (even doing Bluetooth casts from the laptop to the TV)."Are vastly improved, is what I meant to say...
Dream Speakers = landed. Now I need to feed them!
Update: The Denon HEOS is working perfectly as a DAC right now, feeding into the Sony.  Detail and imaging on the Bluetooth signals and the optical from the TV (even doing Bluetooth casts from the laptop to the TV).  Quicksilvers are on order, but...
Surge protectors and power conditioners - Good idea or bad?
The only real surge suppression is putting a transformer between the gear and the wall.  Transformer's breaker blows up in a massive overload, gear doesn't.
Dream Speakers = landed. Now I need to feed them!
Enjoy the experience and don’t rush it.   Great speakers deserve both time and thought. Once the Quicksilvers are in, that's exactly what I intend to do.  Relax and enjoy.  I've already got some upgraded interconnects coming in to solve that p...
A bit of an epiphany...with humble embarrassment
I thought the experienced audiophiles here would get a good chuckle out of my ignorant dilemma turned learned epiphany. Now I do not feel as compelled to retire my CV D8's to the other room and scout out some Klipsch Heritage speakers...which a...
Dream Speakers = landed. Now I need to feed them!
@jbhiller As someone who witnessed the entire development of "prosumer" digital audio interfaces for recording purposes, I'd 100% agree.  DAC's from 25 years ago just didn't have the bandwidth, error correction, or even the dithering and noise sha...
PC Audio Interface Question:
Actually, he would be using the XLR input because they are all built as XLR/TRS combo inputs. I don't know the impact of using phantom power on a microphone that doesn't need it, but I know that it will put a 48V DC current on the line (I have ...
Hissing sound when Tone Control is turned on
Well, there is certainly a purpose for a tone control.  Unless your listening room is an anechoic chamber and your system is perfectly tuned to deliver 144dB SNR and perfectly balanced signal from 20Hz-24kHz, you're going to find situations where ...
PC Audio Interface Question:
I would argue that a more "audiophile" solution would be something by RME, Universal Audio, Apogee, or MOTU, the top names in DAC in the recording universe for decades.
PC Audio Interface Question:
You can go even cheaper than that if you're just wanting a simple I/O box.  https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/MTrackSolo--m-audio-m-track-solo-usb-audio-interface50 bucks.  Does all the things that Focusrite does, and has the same minor inco...
Dream Speakers = landed. Now I need to feed them!
@jbhiller Thanks.  I'm excited, really.  I'm already digging how much better the DAC is in this DENON versus going direct to the Sony via Bluetooth.  Getting the Sony completely out of the signal path in exchange for some sweet-sounding glass has ...
