LP Sound Quality
Hi Giglr,Sounds most likely to be a setup and adjustment problem with the turntable itself. The turntable needs to be perfectly level for starters and, in the case of the Linn, the suspension needs to be functioning properly and properly adjusted....
Cartridge suggestions mmf-7.1
With the Pro-Ject tonearm on the Music Hall, you will likely get the best results overall with a medium compliance catridge that weighs less than 7 grams. I have learned this from experience with the MMF-7. The tonearm is not designed to handle th...

Hi Ron,I'm glad to hear that both you and your wife are on the mend. Soft tissue injuries and broken ribs both take quite awhile to heal completely. Please keep all of us posted on how you are doing.Best wishes for a speedy recovery.Jim PendletonOs...
Message on Behalf of Recordron
Please pass along my best wishes to Ron and his wife. I've been a frequent customer of Ron's in the past and have always been impressed by the high standards of his operation. It's always a shock when something like this happens to someone you know...
Is it the Windex?
Hi Joe,Isopropanol is generally used in record fluid formulas, such as ours, to harden dissolved protein deposits in order to keep them from reattaching to the record. The water and the cleaning method as you described would not normally be suffic...
Is it the Windex?
The ingredients in the Windex will have a tendency to harden, rather than remove, certain protein-based contaminants. These ingredients will also tend to trap and hold micro-dust from the paper towels. He's actually making the records much harder ...
How did you get into vinyl?
I hope this proves to be educational to some. There was a time before CD's and computer downloads. In rural areas there really wasn't even much in the way of FM, let alone XM. We had, on AM radio, KXOK in St. Louis. At night we could pick up WLS i...
Magnetization & Demagnetization any conclusions?
Hi Dan_ed,Thanks for the compliment. As I mentioned, I have never tried any type of demagnitizing device on records or CD's for that matter. I can only pass on what a couple of people think that would have some degree of knowledge about the subjec...
Magnetization & Demagnetization any conclusions?
This discussion is interesting enough that I've spoken to both a plastics chemist that I've know and worked with since 1979, and a physicist that I've know for over 20 years who has helped me with my product lines. They both indicate the same thin...
Best LP cleaner fluid for fingerprints
Just to expand on what Dougdeacon and Lak mentioned, if the fingerprints have been on the records for any length of time, the skin oils will etch the surface of the record. This means that even though you have removed the skin oil contaminant from...
Deep Cleaning Records With Steam?
Hello All,Steam is not produced until the water reaches a temperature of 212 degrees Fahrenheit. When the temperature drops below this after leaving the nozzle, then it is no longer steam vapor. Under normal atmospheric conditions, water must boil...
Record Cleaning Machine Fluid
Hi Richard,I guess you missed my post on the other thread. Here it is:Hello Richard,There have been some users, particularly those who had been using a formula containing a lubricant, that have found the use of an additional cleaning step and the ...
Music Hall MMF 7 Tonearm Cable upgrade help.
Contact Todd at TR Audio at traudio@mwconnections.com. He has the ability to do this upgrade and is reasonably priced. He normally uses Cardas wire and connectors, but should be able to make other recommendations as well.
Spike/Surge Protection
A damaging surge can certainly come in through the cable feed. Your cable company should have something that would work; if not, you can pick up a surge supressor at one of the big box stores.
