What type of wire for dedicated 20A AC lines?
Do not increase the wire size beyond 12 ga. as this is a code violation Not true... FWIW: National Electrical Code 90.1 Purpose: (A) Practical Safeguarding. The purpose of this Code is the practical safeguarding of persons and property f...
What type of wire for dedicated 20A AC lines?
@richopp An Overview of Audio System Grounding and Interfacing Take note of page 16. Read pages 31 thru 36. Note the chart on page 35. AL armored MC measured the second best. Number one being the best where the hot and neutral conductors are ...
What type of wire for dedicated 20A AC lines?
@kijanki +1   Please explain what happens if the power transformer’s secondary winding voltage is lower feeding the rectifier, due to a quick AC mains VD event, and the electrolytic capacitors voltage is higher. Just going from memory the rect...
What type of wire for dedicated 20A AC lines?
jea48 said: Where was your reference point used for the measurement? At the electrical panel? ieales response: Where else? Usually the no load voltage is checked at the last outlet on the branch circuit. No loads are connected to the circu...
What type of wire for dedicated 20A AC lines?
@gdnrbob  Bob, Thanks for the kind words. Jim
What type of wire for dedicated 20A AC lines?
@nyev  I gotta ask. Is your electrical panel mounted sideways? Horizontal instead of vertical? What's with that? Jim
What type of wire for dedicated 20A AC lines?
@ditusa    I suggest you read NEC 210.6 (A)(2) "Branch-Circuit Voltage Limitations"
What type of wire for dedicated 20A AC lines?
@nyev  I would not feed the amp with 240V. Probably the biggest reason you couldn't use aftermarket 120V plug power cords. (A 240V branch circuit will require a 250V wall receptacle...)
What type of wire for dedicated 20A AC lines?
Mike, He can use a plastic box and still be code compliant... Jim
What type of wire for dedicated 20A AC lines?
@nyev I assume you live in the US... Solid core #8awg 600V insulated power wiring hasn’t been made in years. Insulated #10awg is the largest solid core wire made...   For a 50ft run, length, #10 should be more than adequate. I doubt if pushin...
How To Match Power Tubes
Example: Here is the procedure for the ARC VT50 when retubing the amp. https://www.vintageshifi.com/repertoire-pdf/pdf/telecharge.php?pdf=Audio-Research-VT50-Bias-Adjustment-Manual.pdf https://www.arcdb.ws/model/VT50 Trim pots for biasing the ...
How To Match Power Tubes
@dgclark0007 What model ARC amp do you have? The VT series therein, VT50, VT100, VT100 MK 2 series requires the 6922 signal tubes must also be biased. I believe, looking at the schematic diagram for the ARC CA50, the 6922 tubes also require bia...

Ok ..I have Maggie 1.7is on Magnarisers but one keeps blowing the "tweeter"
Yes. If the fuse to fuse holder contact clips are not holding the fuse end caps tight remove the fuse from the fuse holder and carefully squeeze the fuse holder clips together using a pair of needle nose pliers. Carefully, you don’t need much. Re...
Ok ..I have Maggie 1.7is on Magnarisers but one keeps blowing the "tweeter"
@jkf011 I will throw this one out there. You never said how long you can listen to the speaker loud until the fuse blows. First if there was a short circuit the fuse would blow immediately. So that can be ruled out. There is another thing tha...
