ABX testing with AQ Dragon power cords
@dwcda said: I was talking to my dealer about how good the system sounds that he sold me. I mentioned that I had tried some new speaker/interconnect cables from a local amp/cable manufacturer & both I and the company boss agreed that there w...
Thickest Power cord with Power distributor?
@OP, I see you live in Germany. Voltage is 230V I believe. From what I have read Germany does not ground the electrical service like we do here in the U.S. Can you shed any light on how the electrical service is grounded in your area in Germany?...
Wattgate IEC does not fit tight.
It is a Levinson 585. Do they use a different socket? It is strange that a $6 generic cord works but the audiophile IEC will not. Mark Levinson - No 585 Integrated Amplifier Looking at the power inlet IEC O/I switch on the rear panel of the M...

Wattgate IEC does not fit tight.
It would help to know what amp the OP has. Example: Reading some posts of the OP’s. Mark Levinson - No 585 Integrated Amplifier I don’t think any audiophile power cord will fit properly on the ML 585. The OEM or a cheap $6 computer cord will ...

@audioman58 said: which btw digital is not grounded But the chassis of equipment the shielded ethernet cable plugs into may be. I’ve read posts where a shielded ethernet cable caused a ground loop hum. (Had nothing to do the 4 twisted pairs of...

@erik_squires I am not an IT professional. I believe you are though. Going to a higher cat than your source and switch supports doesn’t help anything. The OP didn’t say what type of internet/speed he has coming into his house. I think that wou...
Good outlet for amplifiers
Edit: This armored cable is apparently MC cable. Manufacture calls it Metal Clad. Must be new. I have never seen MC cable with a bare aluminum ground wire. Junk for feeding audio equipment, imo. I doubt very much that’s what you have. No way tha...
Good outlet for amplifiers
I think this is the armored cable used. I hope not... That’s AC armored cable. Commonly called BX cable. Hopefully yours in MC, (Metal Clad) Cable https://www.southwire.com/wire-cable/metal-clad-cable/armorlite-type-mc-isolated-ground/p/MC40 ...
Good outlet for amplifiers
Yes, as you described, there is a green insulated wire included in the run.  I will need to open things up to see if there is also a bare copper wire for grounding the box and to confirm that the box is metal... but I know we used an armored cabl...
Good outlet for amplifiers
@peter_s said: @jea48 That’s the word I was looking for. "Isolated Ground". Thank you! Can any/all of the recommendations above be wired as isolated ground? I think this is the case if one uses a plastic box for the outlets, or uses plastic wash...
Good outlet for amplifiers
I have a circuit in my listening room for my amplifiers and it uses a dedicated ground. Dedicated ground ??? Are your present outlets IG, (Isolated Ground) duplex outlets? .
The last 20 years of Home Power Have Been Amazing
I had already ran two dedicated 20A lines into my living room. A 10AWG stranded line for all the audio crap and 12AWG Romex (solid core) line for the TV and computer crap including the Streamer. . I’d installed a junction box inside the ga...
The last 20 years of Home Power Have Been Amazing
I think the First Surge claims to react within a nano second. Ya, but what will be the clamping voltage for your installation? . The amount of time it takes electricity to travel 12 inches. The length of the wires looks longer than 12 i...
