This Sistrum stuff works
Way to go TWL! The Sistrum and Sonoran products are extremely good, and as you point out, even cost effective. Enjoy!
What should I do to improve my digital sound?
Hlt- Start by not listening to vinyl! It is very difficult to enjoy digital if your vinyl is sounding great;^). What is your problem with your digital in the context of your system? What is missing? Are you just in the mood to upgrade or is there ...
Pre-amp match for Moscode 600
Since you're running tubes (albeit, a hybrid), I'd suggest that you go with an all tube pre-amp. There are many to choose from, but you didn't mention a price range or if a used item would be considered. I'd look into Blue Circle, Melos, C-J, MFA,...
Help.... Need Amp advice
Lo- I'd look into something like the Blue Circle or Audible Illusions 2C, 2D, or 3. Only thing about AI is that their customer service leaves a lot to be desired. Musical Designs, MFA, Melos, and C-J also made nice tube pre-amps. I'd recommend tha...
Let's talk tube amps - no ss discussion
Listen to Wonjun. He certainly offers an excellent recipe for musical enjoyment. It has definitely worked for me, though luckily with the SET power I have, my speaker options are rather broad. Enjoy.
Personal analog evolution
I concur with Rcprince. The WTT was(is) a great table for me, and helped me learn what a table should do.Pioneer manual, belt-drive (forgot the model)Technics manual, direct-driveOracle Alexandria (poor cartridge choice limited my appreciation of ...
Help.... Need Amp advice
You might also consider getting a good analog pre-amp so that you can bypass the Denon when listening to music. Regardless of the amplification that you get, when it comes to music, the Denon is definitely limiting you. Just a suggestion. Enjoy.
Have you found cable Nirvana? Tell me about it.
KF- As Tireguy stated, there are just too many cables for one to have tried them all. I've had the FIM Gold, Nordost Quatro, Kimber Select Silvers, Cardas, Coincident, Sakura, NBS, FMS ... yikes! Anyway, I've been very happy with the new Sonoran P...
Will our MC for the festivities gain the stage?
One might also consider the system as a whole when trying to determine "sufficient gain." Obviously, the cartridge output, phono gain and pre-amp gain are important. Remember, your amplifier input sensitivity & gain, and speaker sensitivity wi...
Can anyone help me on Audio Research PH 3SE?
Limsp- Is the problem that with the pre-amp volume control turned all the way up that there is insufficient sound level, or is it possible that you think that the pre-amp volume control should just be at a lower level? Given the premise that "no v...
power cords- problems using too many cords ?
Newfane- It all comes down to system synergy. You might have taken the sound too far in one direction with the additional pc's. Be sure to let the power cords fully burn-in, and consider getting upgraded a/c outlets, possibly some that are known f...
OK 2 use different OT taps for 2 sides of 1 amp?
Edesilva- Nothing wrong with this approach. Be sure to listen to the different possible configurations to decide which arrangement sounds the best as opposed to simply following some nominal impedance figure stated for each section of the speaker....
okay, here we go again...
Iasi- Have you considered the option of getting a CD player with volume control and running it direct to the amplfier? Though I prefer having a great pre-amp in my system, this approach might work well for you and allow the consideration of a Cary...
okay, here we go again...
Iasi- It would help if you included a little info such as: how many sources does the integrated need to accommodate (if CD only, what player will you use?), the size room and typical spl level at which you like to listen? Depending on the above an...
PC's for tubes?
You're going to have to listen to some power cords to determine what works best in your system, in your room, and to your sonic preferences. Don't get hung up on ribbon conductors. The best pc's I've used in my system (which is almost all tube bas...
