AC Dedicated Line Wouldn’t it be riskier to use a larger breaker on a circuit than necessary? If you only draw 5 amps a 30 amp circuit may never trip. That was my understanding. Electricians, here, is that right?
The term "High End" needs to die. Long live Hi-Fidelity! Erik, once again I love your post. Keep them coming! I have nothing to add but an echo of your sentiments.
Really...My favorite power tube is reissue that's not widely popular I’ve been bopping around through my systems this summer. I just got back to horns fed by these tubes. Soooo good. Time has shown me these are just so special new production tubes.
System Upgrade Folks above are right. It’s probably a power amp issue due to inefficient Harbeths. I think Leben pairs well with moderately efficient speakers (93dB and north).
Do I go from a Primaluna HP Integrated to Schiit Freya+ and a pair of Aegir Amps? OP, that’s a strong deal. You can’t go wrong at that price if it’s in good condition.
Do I go from a Primaluna HP Integrated to Schiit Freya+ and a pair of Aegir Amps? OP, where do you live? If you're in Chicagoland you can come here my Primaluna HP or possibly borrow it. Plus one on tube rolling. I use KT 150s with the amp under certain circumstances (typically lower efficiency more modern speakers). I use 7...
Wharfedale Linton Heritage 85th Anniversary Because I’m lazy and or super busy, I emailed Wharfedale for data on the crossovers. I’ll definitely drop a post after I do it.
Wharfedale Linton Heritage 85th Anniversary +1 on chrisr view. They do lack a bit of air so they sound better in my more lightly furnished rooms. Or they open up with certain preamp tubes if I’m running a tube amp. At at some pint I’d like to open them up and see the crossover capacitor va...
don sach's custom kt88 tube amp I would love to try his pre and amp. Keep it coming folks! I'm enjoying hearing about your experiences.
can you add tone controls to a primaluna HP integrated amp I’m sorry I just saw this. I have a Loki you could buy or just borrow. Good luck! It’s a nice device. Very quiet too.
Who Has the New Top Technics SL1200GRE? Does it blow your other expensive tables away? Great thread!I have the GAE. LOVE IT! One of of my all time favorite pieces of gear. I think of upgrading other parts of my chain but never the turntable. I would need to hear a remarkable difference in order to justify doing so. I run an AudioTe...
2000-2500 USD budget for an integrated amplifier. Do amplifiers sound the same? :) Eric Squires is right again!I don’t think all this theory is helping you OP. You seem to be spending effort making an argument. You may want to try listening to different amps with the Fortes. I’ve had the Fortes for nearly a year and I listen ab...
2000-2500 USD budget for an integrated amplifier. Do amplifiers sound the same? :) I own the Forte IIIs. I’ve mated them with both SS and vacuum tubes. They reveal differences in amplification and source well. On the solid state end, they sounded way better TO ME with a musical and powerful Creek Evolution 100, but a bit bori...
What brand was better than it is today? As the OP, I did think of the inverse question-what brands are better today than before? That’s a tougher question for me. Who has increased their overall quality or offer flagship models that are great and push to company above previous perfor...
Wharfedale Linton Heritage 85th Anniversary I finally got around to swapping out the Lintons and moving the Forte IIIs back in. I enjoyed comparing but not enough to keep the Fortes in position. I moved the Wharfedales back in. I'm very pleased with these speakers. I'd like to put them ... |
