So I bought the Willsenton R-800i
Charles1dad, you are correct--it's a lot of amp for the money.  Good to see you around these parts. You have a keen appreciation for our hobby and I always like hearing what you have to say.

Zerung, glad to hear you picked one of these up and like it.  It does sound like you bought the 845 version, is that right?
What's been your experience with New Chinese 6SN7 tube options?
Thanks all. @jaymark Jaymark that is high praise!  You also have very nice preamps!

Thank you for all of this intel!!! Keep chiming in.  It seems we have to look to China for alternatives given the war in Ukraine, and China looks to be upping its offerings.

@chmaiwald , I highly recommend REL's T line.  Very persuasive, musical subs.
Dr, Jekyll and Mr. Hyde
Great thread!  I battle with this too.  I do find carving out some alone time just to sit is very helpful.  A glass of scotch and some cannabis can do wonders here too. Another thing I do if my Dr. J is getting in the way a lot is to deprive myse...

@chmaiwald , Wow, I went back and listened to that Neurosis album. I wouldn't blame the amp for how this album sounds. The production seems intentionally nasty heavy. I don't listen to much metal or heavy punk though. Also, I'm in the minority cam...
Those singers you enjoy,....that don't really have a great voice?
Roger Miller had a great voice to me because of the growl.  Listen to Engine, Engine #9, when he says these lines on later verses: "I'm a little upset, yes" "Coming down the railroad line..." Roy Orbison was a superb singer that many couldn't m...
REL speakon connection to amp vs speakers
I agree with the above advice and REL's recommendation.  You arguably get the amps flavor coming through with this method,

Status Update - I'm 3 weeks into owning this amplifier.  It's a problem; on the days I'm not in the office or on the road (which has only been 2 during the holiday period), I'm getting little work done because I'm constantly listening to music! ...
Klipsch Cornwall IV
PS @larbredor , I didn't swap out that massive 60uF poly cap linked to the woofer.  That would be (a) insanely pricey; and (b) very tricky to enigineer for me. I would have to fasten it off the PCB as it would be too big.  Don Sachs was of the op...
Klipsch Cornwall IV
@larbredor ,  Sorry for the slow response.  I don't get updates properly on forum threads anymore.   If you want to upgrade the crossovers on the Cornwall IV, here's your parts list:  All of the below *2 (2 speakers):    2.7uF 2.2uF 6.8uF ...
