need advice on the best outdoor speakers
Look at the Boston Acoustics Voyager. I have a pair of Voyager II's (I think thats the name) at my cabin, and I have been really impressed with them. I've had them for around 4-5 years now, in a pretty harsh environment, and they don't show any si...
Best speakers under $650
Audio Advisor has a sale on Epos speakers right now actually. I have not heard them, but I have heard some good things about them. They have the pair that retails for around $900 for $600 right now.
Personal speaker evolution
I started off with the biggest gaudiest loudest speakers I could find, the Cerwin Vega AT-15. At 18 years old, probably the perfect speakers for me. They were huge, about 40"x20"x20". 15" woofers, extremely efficient, and there seemed no limit to ...
Bonzo's drum sound
Krelldog, my favorite band of all time too. Truly one of the most versatile, original, and talented bands ever assembled IMO.To answer the question, my opinion would be that Bonzo's drum sound was his own creation by and far. If I remember correct...
Need good speaker cable for modest system.
I have Signal Cables and really enjoy them. My system is approx. the same "level" as yours, and they were my choice. They are not the "last word" of course, but for the money are very very good.IMO
Best sounding SACD's to show-off system
I'm still new to SACD, but two that I have found that are outstanding are Norah Jones "Come Away With Me" and Willie Nelson "Stardust". There is a lot of detail to be heard in both artist's voices, and SACD seems to really let bring it out vs. red...
Where to start with room acoustics
Great thread, 2 questions:PTM, can you expand on the "old mirror trick"? I can guess what you mean, but I am not familiar. Warnerwh, another simple question; when people speak of the LEDE method, which end is live and which is dead? Also, is treat...
getting people into 2 channel audio.....
I had something similar happen to me. My mom was helping me move, when we got everything in the new place she started telling me where she thought things should go, playing interior decorator. Her opinion was that one of my speakers should go in o...
Europa Owners - What Sub?
I am actually in the process of finishing up a Europa based system right now and posted a similar question recently (although I didn't state that it was for the Europa's, just monitors in general). The consensus seems to be to get the best REL sub...
Question: Why do people use...
I haven't used this setup (yet), but the idea is to combine the power and low frequency abilities of a ss amp with all of the attributes tubes are known for. Seems like a great idea to me and I plan to try it at some point. To reverse the set up a...
Has audiophilia changed your music taste?
No doubt. For me the reason is clear. There are some forms of music that were orginally intended to be heard live (and for the most part unamplified) such as Jazz, Classical, Opera, etc. When this type of music is played through some mass market g...
A few questions for Green Mountain Europa owners
I won't bother repeating what the posters above have said, but I will say that I agree completely. They are, IMO, a very rare bargain. I narrowed my selection down to three: the Sonus Faber Concerto, Revel M20, and the GMA Europas. I auditioned th...
Hi rez: Led Zep and the Beatles
I second that. My Kingdom for Led Zep SACD!!!!
Red headed stranger or the man in black?
Tom,I highly recommend seeing Willie in concert. I have seen him twice and he is very good. He has amazing energy for a man his age, he often goes from one song right into another without pause, and will do it for hours.
Red headed stranger or the man in black?
Awfully tough question. Love them both, tremendous artists, true ground breakers. I guess I'll give Willie the nod if only because he has done something like 10 farmaid concerts. He also recently created his own brand of bourbon, the raw materials...
